We were lucky to catch up with Erykah Franklin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Erykah, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I feel like I’ve always known I wanted to pursue a more creative career, and that’s probably due to my experiences and interest in to wanting to do/try everything.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a photographer based in Dallas, TX focusing on people, creative work and nature photography. I enjoy working with clients and models in bringing their ideas to life and showcasing their best self, with my helpful hype skills! I do everything from senior portraits and headshots to more creative editorial work and sometimes even a mix of both! I am most proud of the connections I have made through photography, whether friend, client or business partner I’ve met some incredibly kind and talented individuals.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect about being a creative is being able to make your visions come to life, all the planning, drawing, and mapping out to see it come into fruition; is an incredible feeling! A close second would be connecting with the people I shoot and the art community; y’all are some real cool people!!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to be able to photograph human begins from all walks of life; documenting their individual personalities, lifestyles, and stories. All while creating photographs that tell my personal stories, interests, and showcase my imagination!
