We recently connected with Errol Allen and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Errol, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
My Dad is my hero, Here’s some advice that he gave when I was a teenager and young adult:
“Boy, see people and not color only son. Because if you see color only, you will miss out on a whole lot.” See people and not color only.” – I have so many friends and clients who do not look like me. This advice has proven to be invaluable to me.
“Give yourself a chance now boy” – My Dad knew that I could get frustrated if I didn’t learn something new quickly. Even when learning something new now, I hear his voice in my head,
“Haste makes waste boy” – My Dad knew that I had a tendency to get in a hurry, He was teaching me to slow down to think things through,
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I am a native Houstonian – a certified city boy. In 2011, I left the corporate world to pursue my passion for analyzing processes to ensure great experiences for both employees and customers. EA Consulting offers process mapping, standard operating procedure development and employee performance appraisal system development, EA Consulting helps clients address issues with inconsistent service delivery, internal operations chaos, low employee morale/frustration and customer complaints.
What sets EA Consulting apart is the “hands on” approach in providing services – I dig into issues to identify productivity gaps vs suggesting steps for the client to take to resolve their challenges. An additional point that sets EA Consulting apart is in understanding the importance of internal connectivity – how documented processes are connected to a company’s ability to properly train employees – which is connected to employees ability to properly perform tasks – which is connected to employees confidence in their ability to properly perform tasks – which is connected to employees providing consistent level of service to both internal and external (paying) customers – which is connected to customer satisfaction – which is connected to revenue. I know that’s a mouthful!!
I am most proud of having taken an idea in my head in 2011 and seeing it through to reality with the assistance/encouragement of many that I have encountered on this journey . Following the inner urging to step out to utilize my natural gifts has resulted in my travelling to all corners of the U.S. to engage with clients and conduct workshops. EA Consulting’s main goal is to bring value to our clients through applying our expertise in managing people and processes. I love what I do, so everyday is fun for me!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
For the last six months of 2014, I utilized the Lone Star Card (food stamps!) for groceries, The business had not yet fully clicked, so it was either get a job or stay on the entrepreneurial journey. I chose to continue to follow that inner urging to pursue my passion. Everything changed in 2015 and the business has continued to grow!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been referrals from current clients. Referrals are hot leads as the current client has already primed the pump. It’s great when clients can speak positively about one’s services. Another source that’s proven effective are other professionals that may be providing services to companies that need my services.
