We were lucky to catch up with Errigh LaBoo Aka Neek B or Uneek recently and have shared our conversation below.
Errigh LaBoo, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
Appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken
Starting Bmore Than Dance is probably one of the biggest risk i ever took. I left my stable job working in the hospitality industry because i was extremely passionate about creating this environment for the youth of our city. I was homeless for the first year, living out of abandoned properties and staying on friends couches. We use to go to McDonald’s and spend no more than a $1 per meal so we could charge our phones and spread word of our events. Crazy times now that i think back on it.
The risk was a 20 year journey that led to our story being captured as a part of the Dark City Beneath The Beat Documentary by TT the Artist & produced by Issa Rae
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am Errigh LaBoo Jr aka Neek B or Uneek; CEO of Bmore Than Dance. Born and raised in Baltimore, MD; Morgan State University Graduate, Member of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity incorporated and the founder of the King & Queen of Baltimore Tournaments.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Authenticity. I’ve never been the most liked but I’m always the most genuine. Our community is built on genuinely loving what we do as well as always providing the most effective career paths for our clients. We dream big but the work has to be done to accomplish dreams. So we utilize all our resources to network and harvest house grown talent that we then can teach how to monetize because we have a genuine relationship with that individual.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2023 we will present KOB X which is the 10th installment of what was a small homegrown event. We have overcome every obstacle our way and now taking this event to a national level inviting dancers from all around the world to compete to a local sound we have made internationally known. Our mission our purpose and everything we accomplish is a symbol or story of resilience. Join us on this ride.
