Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eron Blue. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Eron thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
New Wave originated in 2017 by Eron Blue who is originally from Montgomery, AL. I was always aware of how important mental health was but it wasn’t talked about enough around that time. I’m an influential person and have always been a bright king who drove to excel in every field of endeavor with a few bumps in the road but always seemed to bounce back to my full form. For my peers around me, I sensed that a plethora of friends would not do as well with their mental health and life would put a toll on them. I would have a few friends come to me to mention how my personality or energy would help them embrace the positive light inside of them and right there in those moments where I knew I wanted a brand to establish that would represent a concrete and purposeful meaning behind it. So I sat in my graphic design class sketching out ideas for hours until I finally came up with the perfect design, but I didn’t have a name behind the design. As I brainstormed and thought hard, I realized there was a saying I would tell my peers who would stick out to me. I would always say they was the “new wave” and BOOM, that’s where it hit me. New Wave was the top headliner on my T-shirts. My graphic design teacher Mr.Hodnett being an inspiration of mine as well as the one who taught me the graphic design skills walked over to see my progress with my project and took a peak at the new design as well as name and instantly loved it. So then and there I knew I had a bright future ahead of me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
New Wave originated in 2017 by Eron Blue who is originally from Montgomery, AL. As a young adult I always knew I stood out in a positive way and influenced others around me. The excitement of stepping into a room and being able to embrace my authentic self was always key to me. As I went through life’s trials and tribulations, I knew I didn’t have room to stay down for long because I never knew who around me may have needed that smile, excitement, high energy, hug, or passion to get through another day so I always gave the world the best me. I am a self driven person who always believed that no matter what dark tunnel you may be in , there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel to reach. So that was a driving understanding of mine. No matter what I may encounter in life, keep pushing for one more day because that day could be your breakthrough day. I always loved the life of business, it’s something that brought life to me to be able to own my own and make my own money as well. With that plus me wanting to see the world around me improve in different social, cultural, and reality areas, I knew a bright light like me can really change the world. My passion, drive, accept for failure, ambition, understanding, and motive has always set me apart. With this clothing brand, I always made it bigger than just clothes, I made it a lifestyle. New Wave is literally a growing movement that you can carry with you any and everywhere you go, and not just on the outside, but the inside as well. I am the New Wave because I embrace the human being God created me to be to be able to help others find there light and shine if they aren’t able to do so. As well as for the ones who know they’re the “New Wave”, then they understand the high magnitude that surrounds them, and together we will grow.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to realize that family, friends, and the people around you mean nothing when it comes to starting your business. It was always funny to me how my loved ones weren’t my first order or first promoter. It came from the strangers around me who genuinely loved the brand for what it stood for. I will say I didn’t ever take it personal that my close ones didn’t support or show love, but took that hurt and turned it into a life lesson. Realizing as long as I truly believed in me then that’s all that mattered. Funny story, my first order was 25 New Wave shirts that I held on to for 4 weeks as I was sitting in my hometown promoting and trying to sale these items. Only 2 people purchased a shirt from me and I was devastated, but like I stated before, I didn’t ever stay down for too long. I kept hope alive and as I was moving into my dorm room at Alabama A&M University I kept feeling my phone ringing off the hook. So I checked to see what was all the commotion and come to find out, so many of the new students I encountered at the school wanted to purchase a shirt from me. That night of move in, I sold the rest of the shirts I had and I was so excited. So that’s when I learned it doesn’t matter how you start or come along, it’s all about do you believe in yourself.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My personality and aura worked hand in hand with my brand. Being the New Wave is being aware of your true self and able to embrace that into this world instead of being someone you’re not so me showing my true nature to others helped me build my reputation for this market.
