We were lucky to catch up with Ernie Peghiny III recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ernie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
At a very young age of 5, I started playing drums and piano. Music was always being played whether inside the house or on car rides. Through elementary, middle, and high school, I would perform for each school, until COVID hit. At that time, I was a freshman in high school. I also picked up the guitar, and would start writing original material, which was honestly the only thing keeping me sane enough through quarantine. Through the rest of high school, I would write material, before I started singing and finally releasing it, starting in 2023. Through all these years of songwriting, I learned how to work a DAW, and mix and master my songs. Because of this, I would then start producing for other bands around the local area, and turn that into the business I have today. I think my learning process was at a perfect pace, as I never truly “practiced” anything. I am all self taught by ear, so the whole journey was simply just me having fun and creating something new. Watching youtube videos or reading online forums would help me learn the basics of mixing, which I would then follow my ears to finish the rest. Talking to my dad about different mixing techniques has also been a huge help, as he does everything just like I do.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Once again, I would find myself practicing how to mix and master through out the COVID 19 quarantine days, which would lead myself to finally releasing my original music on streaming platforms. Now understanding how it all works, I then started working on projects with other bands as producer. I started with a band called, “Evershock”, which led to more bands such as, “Caliber”, “Call Out”, “Nochdown”, and currently, “Gearheads”. What sets me apart from others is that I get inside each song a band wants to record. I try and learn about each band member and their influences so I can bring the best out of each member, and truly make each song the best possible, and true to its intended form or sound. I am most proud of the fact that each production of mine just keeps getting better and better. I would also like potential clients/artists/bands to know that I do not charge by the hour, as I don’t want to rush anything with any work or recordings. That way, we get the best and genuine results.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The ultimate goal for me and my creative journey is to create a stable foundation where I have a healthy and stable income from music, so that I can truly live off what I love. The way I will accomplish this goal is by having multiple sources of income, from productions, songs I write, my own music I put out, touring in other bands or my own band, and running a record label that wraps everything together.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is finishing everything on a song, and being able to sit back and crank what was once in your head, but now blasting through your speakers, for not just you to hear, but the world as well.
