We recently connected with Erlee . and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Erlee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I think the biggest and craziest risk that I have taken is moving to California during the pandemic with no job no real place to stay and no real plan other than to make my dreams a reality. Having the pure motivation of knowing that even though the situation at the time seemed insane I knew that it was gonna work out for the better. I just knew in my mind that this was what I needed to do to further my career and to really light a fire under myself to achieve these goals. Two years later and I don’t regret my decision at all it was extremely difficult and at times seemed impossible but I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything in the world

Erlee, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I live and breathe music in all forms and in all practices. I started my artist Journey in Memphis Tennessee around 10 years ago and I haven’t stop since. I have a classical piano background and try to use that knowledge in my sound now. I like to say I make music for the in between and for anybody who feels in between. I feel like there’s so much space to create literally anything in music and I try to create for everybody that’s just kind of in the void of life and trying to figure it out. I feel like my sound and overall style is when it sets me apart from other artist today. If I were to explain what my sound is another person I would say it’s soul music that plays dress up everyday. It might look a certain way one day and sound a different way another day but when you strip it all down it’s just soul music.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is when people that you don’t know relating to the work that you put out. I know for a fact that because I’m a genuine person and I have a loving support system, I’m always going to get good feedback from them. But, when it comes from people you don’t know at all it’s just an amazing feeling knowing that what you’re doing is is touching people that you don’t even know.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In a world where most things can be pirated and you can find free versions of anything, the best way to support an artist now is to pay for their services whether that be actually buying a song or purchasing their merchandise. If you don’t have the means to support financially, which I understand wholeheartedly, share, share, and share it takes nothing to just share somebody’s works.
