We recently connected with Erisha Green and have shared our conversation below.
Erisha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Growing up the dinner table/ kitchen was the place we all came together and that will always feel like home to me. I want to help us as a whole get back to gathering in the kitchen with family and friends… I want everyone to experience that home feeling.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Erisha Green, a multifaceted individual – a business owner, home cook, employee, and, above all, a mom. The motivation to provide for my son sparked a transformative journey, leading to the creation of King’s KrEATions Catering, LLC.
Our catering service is designed to offer a flexible culinary experience, impressing both small gatherings and larger events with recipes inspired by my family’s traditions. Celebrating a year and a half in business, I take pride in the monthly sales and the joy my food brings to customers’ faces. At King’s KrEATions, we’re dedicated to creating memorable moments for families, embracing our shared love for good food and bringing out the royal essence in every bite.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
While growing up, my interest in cooking wasn’t apparent, and I was quite a picky eater, sticking to familiar meals. However, when I ventured out on my own, necessity led me to discover a passion for cooking. It became an enjoyable skill, and I found pleasure in sharing my culinary creations with friends and family, especially on Sundays.
Despite initially dismissing the idea of selling my food, the need for extra income after having my son prompted the start of a “small catering business.” What began as modest is now expanding, unlocking dreams I had set aside. My catering business and sauce line are gaining recognition from the East Coast to the West Coast.
In terms of scaling, my focus is on staying local and strengthening ties within my community, moving beyond friends and family. Actively participating in local markets, I set and achieve goals, leading to substantial growth – last year, we reached 111 customers.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My approach to acquiring new clientele revolves around overcoming my fear of reaching out. While the prospect of speaking to new people terrifies me, I recognize its necessity. I actively participate in networking events, frequent markets, and even attend events where I’m not officially part of the program, all to support my community.
Building relationships with clients is key; I aim to leave them with positive impressions. Word of mouth is a crucial tool, emphasizing the importance of treating customers with respect and dignity to foster lasting connections.
