Hi Erin , thanks for joining us today. Alright, so one thing we think people don’t talk about nearly enough is investments – either time or money. What’s one of the best or worst investments you’ve made and what did you learned from the experience?

The best investment was investing in myself. It’s hard and everything doesn’t always go to plan, but it feels great to know I took a chance and am thriving on me. Don’t deny your skills and knowledge. Take the leap!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I started Homebrew Recording, Inc. as an affordable way for artists to have access to a recording to studio without leaving their homes. I’ve been a drummer and playing around Atlanta since I was eleven years old and I’ve been in and out of expensive studios that rarely give you the results you’re looking for. Homebrew was something I had been thinking of starting for a very long time and when I looked at all the equipment I’d ‘collected’ over the years, I thought…‘It’s time to make the dreams reality.’

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

Word of mouth, reliability and quick turnaround time is what helps bring in clientele. The artists I’ve worked with love that they don’t have to wait months for the final product or have to spend time traveling to and from a studio to get multiple days (if needed) of recording time.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

The 9-5 wasn’t ideal but it helped fund my small business and helped me connect with people. Over time I was able to build my mobile studio without taking out any personal loans and my gear has paid for itself several times over. Don’t knock the 9-5! It’s just a stepping stone to help bring in some money while you’re getting started.
