We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Erin Stetzer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin , thanks for joining us today. Let’s go back in time a bit – can you share a story of a time when you learned an important lesson during your education?
I played Division 1 basketball at Fairfield University where I learned the value of hard work and perseverance. I believe it contributed to my systematic approach to custom home construction, as well as the high standards I set for myself, my team, and my surroundings.
Erin , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My love of home construction became apparent nearly two decades ago and, as my skills and expertise have evolved over time, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside the nation’s best architects and interior designers to bring many of Houston’s most remarkable homes to life. I launched Stetzer Builders in 2003 with the ambition to be the most service-driven builder in the luxury home construction industry. To deliver on that goal, we pair a superior product with a remarkable client experience all founded upon my team’s reliability, transparency, and trusted efficiency..
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
It’s essential that my team remain open and honest with our clients throughout the entire home construction process. Trust is the foundation of everything and that is evidenced by doing what you say you will do, day in and day out. I’m very vocal about avoiding shortcuts and my passion for getting the job done right, and homeowners take notice. Most importantly, I share my approach with the world by dedicating time and energy to educating homeowners via my YouTube channel and Instagram. This is where my audience is invited to join me on site visits, tune in for important construction reminders, and other insider tips for anyone interested in what it takes to build or renovate a home the right way!
Any advice for managing a team?
I share constant reminders with my team to keep our end goal in sight. Defining that goal is the very first thing we do when we start the construction process and that goal should inspire the work we do every day, particularly during those more stressful moments! It’s important that we maintain perspective; what we’re building is so much bigger than the foundation, framing, and everything in between. We’re ushering someone’s dream home to life and the people on our team need to bring passion, creativity, and focus to that process!
