We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Erin Michele Soto. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Erin Michele below.
Erin Michele, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Taking a risk on myself meant believing in me and having a dream in my darkest hours, using it as a guiding light. The spark inside me fired up.
After a concussion (the kind that really makes you rethink everything), I had to face the terrifying idea that the thing I loved most — acting — might be off the table. It asks for your whole self: focus, timing, presence, emotion. And for a while, I wasn’t sure if I’d be ready to come back online to the world.
At first, it was all about learning to let go of the fast pace, and learning to trust myself again — baby steps, slow mornings, small wins. But then something shifted. Those little steps? They started adding up to something real. Not a return to who I was, but a version of me that felt more open, more creative, more vibrant.
Here’s what I hold onto: everything I’ve done — every award, every role that’s meant something, even being an actress on an Emmy winning series — all came after the injury. I’ve done Shakespeare, indie films, and played romantic leads that ask for real emotional depth. My career didn’t just keep going — it truly began.
That experience didn’t dim my creative fire — it sharpened it. I act not only because I love it or because it’s how I tell the truth, but because story creates connection. And sometimes, when we tell ours, someone else feels seen.
Coming back wasn’t about reclaiming what I lost. I’ve become more in tune with the subtle details around me — sounds, emotions, energy — which deepened my connection to the characters I play. What once felt like a challenge has become a unique strength I bring to my work.
Someone else feels seen or heard through storytelling. Maybe I’ve made their day a little better through entertainment, inspired their next idea, helped them escape a tough moment, or simply made them feel a little less alone. The energy I bring flows through every character, every take.
Taking a risk on myself was about betting on me — nothing short of a miracle. And honestly, I’ve only just begun.

Erin Michele, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was a very creative little girl. I started with dancing, making voice recordings with friends, and putting on plays in the living room—costumes, scripts, characters—pure joy. When I was seven, I was cast as the lead in a school play—a princess, of course, with a prince. That’s where it all began. With play. With love.
At seven, I didn’t fully understand what love or connection truly meant—I just knew I loved performing and the way it sparked something between me and the audience. That spark has stayed with me, even as its meaning has deepened. Now, as a professional actress working across film, television, streaming, and live theatre, I bring each role to life with my best artistic nuances, heart, and emotional openness. My goal is to create moments that resonate—to make the audience feel something real.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
I would still choose acting… I wouldn’t choose a different profession!!

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
