We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Erin Marie Garrett . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Erin Marie below.
Erin Marie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
As an artist, it’s often difficult to find the right avenues and connections to get your work seen and heard. I have been fortunate to have come across several people who have made such a difference in my artistic career. Just giving an artist a chance to showcase their talent can open so many doors for future gigs and opportunities. I am not quite where I want to be yet, but I am steadily working on my goals. To those who have given me a chance- thank you, and to those producers, directors, and businesses that I have yet to encounter- I’m ready!
Erin Marie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a singer in a rock band (Love Sick Drug), many have said it would be difficult because the mainstream industry has gotten so pop or rap influenced, but I believe in sticking to your style. Trying to be like everyone else does not set you apart. I think people connect better with authenticity anyway. The tv/film world is a different one, because I have learned that it really is about who you know. I also love working with other creatives. Being able to cause an emotional reaction in your audience is such an intoxicating feeling. Whether thru my music or on-camera, it just makes me feel like I’m alive specially for this purpose.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social Media. Advantages and challenges. I would of course love to have a million followers, but I decided a while back that I was not going to pay for it. Not to mention. I didn’t want to get hacked! LOL. I have had some people tell me to do it, because it would get me more work- but, I have a decent amount of people that constantly engage with me, and I really think that is the most important thing. If it’s just a bunch of bots, then you’re not really giving your craft a chance to shine in front of people who would appreciate it, don’t you think?
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
My view of NFTs? I honestly only know that it stands for Non- fungible Token. That’s it. That’s all I know. Haha! If anyone wants to reach out about it- I’m all ears! ;)
