Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Erin Duvall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Erin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I have been in the music business for a really long time. I took a step back when I had my four kids to write more and recenter my focus in the music industry. When I decided to release this current album, I wanted to make certain that I was using my voice for something positive in the world. I am blessed to have four amazing children. I am a single mother, and while it is the greatest part of my life, it comes with a lot of hardships. So, I founded the “Twice the Love Foundation,” and we are raising money and awareness for single parents, both men, and women alike, to help them get back on their feet again. We want to be a center of hope and guidance for those who feel overwhelmed and are struggling to take the first step on their own.
I was very fortunate to have a loving place to land going through my divorce, but many single parents do not. I would say to myself constantly, “What would I do if I didn’t have this loving place” “Where would I go?” “What would I do?”. The thought was all-consuming and so incredibly daunting. You have to stay strong to be a beacon of light and hope for your children, but sometimes that seems impossible. So how do we help? This is where “Twice the Love Foundation” came into play. This foundation came from a very genuine place, and we are so excited about the work we are doing and the future of the foundation.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi everyone! My name is Erin Duvall and I am a singer/songwriter/mother and entrepreneur. I grew up in a large family in Dallas, TX as the fourth of five children. I have two very wonderful parents who taught us at an early age the importance of hard work and giving back. Every aspect of my life since I was a little girl was based around being a performer. I was always writing songs in my journal, blaring Dolly Parton or Shania Twain, and putting on shows for anyone that would listen.
My younger years were full of performing, from being the leads in the high school musical to captain on the cheerleading squad. I took a pause to go to college at The University of Texas and majored in journalism, where I really honed in on my craft of writing. Immediately after college, I went straight back to music and have had quite the journey along the way: from children’s music to my music, from New York to Nashville to the West Coast, then back to Texas, to becoming a mother and writing this new album, it’s been a long and winding road. One that has always been centered on music. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my love of music and all the fabulous places it has taken me along the way to get to where I am now.
The third single from my album drops in May right before Mother’s Day. It is a love song to my children and all of the parents out there who are raising children or have raised children. Being a parent is the hardest, but most rewarding job in the world. This song is so special to me and I hope you all love it as well.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think one of the most rewarding aspects of being a creative is that we take these tiny ideas from our mind, this little seed, and then provide that idea with structure to then watch it flourish into something big and wonderful. The journey from a small idea and a melody to a beautifully finished song to a major production on stage to visually represent the song is such a magical process and the most rewarding to me as an artist.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I have met very few people in the music industry that can say that their road has been a super smooth one. The many bumps and twists in the road, personally and professionally for me, are what have made me who I am and has given me the experience to truly stand in the light of who I am as an artist.
I was very young when I started out and naive, to say the least. My heart was in the right place, but I lacked the knowledge and experience that was needed to really make a dent. In my young age, I didn’t realize the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to promote the music is equal, if not more, to what you put into making the record. I made the mistake with my first debut album of not having a solid team behind me to push and promote the music. I was able to get it in front of some wonderful people, but the marketing and branding pieces were not there when they absolutely needed to be.
The music industry is a wonderful place to be but definitely can come with its ups and downs. The most important thing I have found to be true is that you must always stay true to yourself. Understand that you will evolve and change internally over time, but as long as you stand by your true inner self and fight for what you believe in, you will thrive and not burn out. Also you must understand that it will not be easy. This industry can break your heart or make your dreams all in the same second so you have t keep showing up, work hard and put one foot after the other. Day after day. And lastly, surround yourself with the right team of people that understand your vision and always have your best interest in mind.
