Erin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear a story from back when you were an intern or apprentice. What’s a memorable story you can share with us?
Reflecting on internships and apprenticeships, I believe they are essential for building experience and making connections. It’s a time to gain practical knowledge and develop a deeper understanding of your chosen field. Here’s a story from my journey that highlights an important lesson I learned:
When I was in college, I volunteered at an event in a nearby city. Initially, I saw it as a way to give back and gain some exposure, but it turned out to be much more. During the event, I worked closely with the organizing team, helping with everything from logistics to guest relations. My dedication and willingness to go the extra mile didn’t go unnoticed, and I was offered an internship with the organizing company.
That internship was a game-changer. I immersed myself in various aspects of event planning and marketing, gaining hands-on experience that I couldn’t have learned in a classroom. The internship eventually led to a full-time job with the company. Over the years, I honed my skills in client relations, logistics, and sales, which were invaluable when I decided to start my own business.
Looking back, every job I’ve ever had contributed to my success today. I learned the importance of building a strong work ethic and reputation, which are crucial in any industry. Internships and volunteering not only provide practical experience but also offer insights into how to navigate and succeed in your career or business endeavors. So, my advice is to embrace every opportunity to learn and grow, as those experiences will shape your future success.

Hello, I’m Erin Didyoung, founder of Faithful Marketing & Events. My journey into this industry started with a passion for addressing community needs and a belief that when God places something on your heart, it’s a calling to take action. There are numerous issues I care about deeply, and I realized the best way to make a meaningful impact was to partner with nonprofits and municipalities already striving to make a difference.
In 2021, I established Faithful Marketing & Events with the purpose of empowering non-profit organizations and municipalities to not only survive but thrive in their missions. My career began in the hospitality industry, where I developed strong skills in customer engagement, service excellence, and event management. Transitioning into festival production, I expanded my expertise in creating memorable events that foster community spirit.
With an educational background in Integrated Marketing Communications and leadership, along with a certification in International Events and Wedding Planning, I acquired the tools to tackle challenges with creativity and strategic thinking. However, it was my dedication to supporting non-profits and municipalities that truly fueled my purpose. I see these organizations as the foundation of our society, working tirelessly to create a better world.

What helped me build my reputation within the market is my commitment to going above and beyond for my clients. This means actively listening to their needs, understanding their goals, and doing whatever it takes to help them achieve those goals.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Certainly!
I recently experienced a significant pivot in my life and career when I married my husband, Taylor, who is an officer in the Navy. His new stationing brought us to an entirely different region of the country, which required me to adapt to a new way of working and living.
Previously, my work was more localized, allowing me to have a more hands-on approach with my clients. However, this move necessitated a shift towards a more remote working style, which was a big change for me. I had to learn to leverage digital tools and platforms to maintain the same level of service and engagement with my clients from a distance. This transition also involved traveling more frequently to meet clients and attend events when necessary.
Additionally, I realized the importance of growing my business in this new region. To achieve this, I focused on networking, volunteering, and becoming an active member of the community. I joined local organizations, attended community events, and sought opportunities to connect with other professionals and organizations. Volunteering has been particularly rewarding, as it not only allows me to give back to the community but also helps me build meaningful relationships and understand the unique needs and dynamics of the area.
This pivot has been challenging, but it has also opened up new opportunities for growth and learning. It reinforced the importance of flexibility and adaptability in business and life. By embracing change and seeking out new ways to connect and grow, I’ve been able to continue building Faithful Marketing & Events and expanding its impact in new regions.
