We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Erin Darling a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Without a doubt, success comes from a place of genuine love and interest for the work you do. I live, sleep and breathe all things wellness and can never see myself doing anything different. I have personally experienced the struggle of living a life that wasn’t happy or healthy and I can relate so deeply to my clients when they are in this low place. I believe this connection and life experience has made my business that much more successful. I have a passion to help, guide and encourage others to break past the limiting space they are stuck in and to rise their full potential.
Erin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Mindset Nutrition is so much more than a meal plan or a food guide. It is taking everything you thought you knew about health and nutrition and challenging it. It is digging deep into the WHY we want to change our health in the first place and really fine tuning that vision for ourselves. We are about creating open, honest and realistic expectations while simultaneously learning how take excellent care of ourselves forever.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
While perusing long lasting wellness, I had to unlearn all my diet thinking. This involved deleting calorie tracking apps, throwing away diet books, focusing less on the scale and so much more! Moving away from this negative thinking wasn’t easy. I had to do a lot of counseling, meditation journaling and prayer. I even distanced myself from certain friend groups as it was too easy to absorb toxic thinking when hanging around some of my previous acquaintances. Over time, my brain began to learn new thoughts that were much more positive. I realized that the only person that was going to convince me that I was worth loving, was me! Through these important lifestyle shifts, I was able to settle in a healthier spot, both mentally and physically.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My clientele grows from word of mouth primarily. I have been fortunate to work with some amazing women and men who aren’t afraid to share their story. It is through their willingness to be open and honest with their struggles, that I have been able to reach so many people. They tell their story and thankfully that person trusts them enough to begin the journey themselves. It is amazing and I am truly grateful!
