Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Erin Bruch-Looney. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Erin, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I am hoping to create a legacy of inclusivity and positivity. I want everyone to remember me as someone who uplifted others and made them feel incredible especially during vulnerable times. I am all about building other peoples confidence and showing them what the rest of us see.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am the owner and Photographer at Erin Marie Boudoir. I have been a photographer for 6 years. I didn’t start out specializing in Boudoir, I started out how a lot of photographers do. I was a Mom-tographer. I realized how important capturing images has been my whole life and I decided to go back to school after having my twins. I ended up graduating with a degree in Digital Photography and our third baby in my arms. This quickly led me into birth photography.
That was where I realized how women, including myself, have a difficult time seeing our bodies change after having kids but ultimately just through life. I wanted to fix my outlook on myself and then use those skills to build all these women up and show them their true selves and how absolutely beautiful they are. So, I did the hard work and I fell back in love with my body. And now I’m lucky enough to be a small stop on someone’s self-love journey.
I offer a full Boudoir experience, from a pre-shoot consultation, professional hair, professional makeup, access to an exclusive client wardrobe, and professional posing guidance. You don’t need to worry about anything, I’ve got your back!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that there is a goal body type. Growing up I always idolized women I saw in the media. I wanted to change so many things. Just to watch my body transform after high school was difficult. I made babies, I grew, I shrank, I grew, but my body has always been there for me. Its become this beautiful painting or stretch marks, hair, looser skin. It moves, it scars, it TRANSFORMS. How freaking cool is that? My body is the goal body type for me. I am not trying to be anyone else. I just want to feel strong and secure in my own body no matter the phase of life it is going through.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I have pivoted a lot in my career to get to the point that I am right now. But I think that’s essential to growth and understanding. You need to try different things to figure out where you best fit.
I started in family photography and moved into birth photography. I even became a doula to provide the best experience for my birthing clients. I absolutely loved being a birth photographer. Truly a magical experience I don’t take for granted and one day I might dabble again. But the on call lifestyle is not for the weak. I couldn’t be the primary parent and be on call for weeks on end. It just wasn’t working for my family and I. So I pivoted. I still wanted to create images that evoked emotion and embraced the female body (primarily).
I also have a big personality. I’m loud, I swear like a sailor, and I’m the ultimate hype woman. While being the ultimate hype woman works perfect for birth, swearing and being loud is not the best fit for a birthing room. So I tamed myself in the birth space.
In Boudoir there is no taming me. I am fully and authentically me at all times and I just couldn’t love what I do any more than I already do.
