We recently connected with Erikka Franklin and have shared our conversation below.
Erikka, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
I was just twelve when I started Fannysofab. Being a young entrepreneur definitely comes with adversities to face but throughout my experience, I’ve been taught eminence time management skills while building lifelong skills and relationships.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I began sewing and creating when I was six years old. One day I came home from school and I decided to play with my dolls, I looked at my socks then I got an idea. I took one of the socks and then cut two holes on the side then I thought to myself I have a doll dress. Ever since then my love for crafting and creating has exponentially grown. when I was twelve I decided to create custom fanny packs for others to allow them to carry their confidence which is now known as Fannysofab. Growing up I would constantly search for products that fit me and my personality so I decided to make fannysofab a unique custom line for others, allowing you to choose what colors hobbies, etc. you would like your fanny pack to be based around. Throughout my career, I’ve created custom fanny packs for Ari Lennox, Blac youngsta, Taylen Biggs, Khelani, and more! I’ve been awarded the 30 under 30 award from 101.1 the wiz, and 17 under seventeen all while reaching academic achievements.
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
yes! I always loved crafting, while making my products Ive been granted the opportunity of expressing my creativity while enhancing my craft.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I truly belive consistancy is key! For business owners looking to build an audience, I would greatly advise you to use your resources such as social media, and most importantly be yourself!
