We were lucky to catch up with Erika Stoerkel recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Erika, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
Launching doesn’t need to lead burnout. Doing a campaign full of social media marketing and email marketing doesn’t need to burn you or your team out. Most times companies will not give enough time to their launch or they change their offer up to the day of launch. This type of disorganization will burn you out. If you are working as a solo-preneur or someone with a team, give your team at minimum 6 months to prepare and fully understand the offer and the launch strategy.
Most of the companies I work with are coaches or course creators and they are strictly in the online space. For my more senior clients, they understand the value of building out their offer, launch plan, how to integrate it into the business strategy, as well as how to give their team enough time to set up and test copy and tech.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Erika Stoerkel, and I have a Bachelor in Psychology and a Masters in Public Health. I worked in integrative health research with the military and organizations like Harvard, the US Military, and the Culinary Institute of America. I then made a shift into finding work online to help support my family but also to be available for my kids. I had the opportunity to work with small businesses by writing blogs, doing project management, eventually online business management, and then launch strategy. I consult with small businesses to strategize their upcoming launch or signature offer. I help my clients create and launch a signature offer so that they can create a higher monthly recurring revenue and build their brand with offer recognition. I’m different from other launch strategists because I look at your whole business versus on just making money on one launch. I’m most proud that I’ve helped clients double their monthly recurring revenue, without burning out them or their team.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Staying consistent with social media marketing definitely helped to build the reputation. Also by participating in group coaching programs and other networking associations I was able to introduce my company from me versus someone happening on a social media post. It made my business more personal. Lastly and most importantly, by providing good service, being a good communicator, and making sure I only work with businesses that I know with all confidence that I can help them.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I had no capital – in the formal sense. I built my business piece-meal style. I went on freelancing websites to get my first set of jobs and saved some to invest in education and the rest I used for personal expenses. I also tried out different projects with my variety of skillsets to see what I liked the most. The more I worked and earned the more I could learn and invest in the company and the more I could pay myself.
