We were lucky to catch up with Erika Radis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Erika, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Working Moms of San Antonio came to me during one of those beautifully chaotic moments that only working moms can truly appreciate. I was sitting at my dining room table, juggling emails, taking care of my daughters, and sipping my already cold cup of coffee. I couldn’t help but feel this tug—a longing for something more, not just for myself, but for moms like me who were trying to do it all: run a business, nurture a family, and still chase their own dreams.
That day, I thought, What if there was a space where working moms like me could find not just support, but a community that truly understands our unique challenges? A place that celebrated our dual identities as business owners and moms. I wanted a hub for collaboration, connection, and creativity. I couldn’t shake the idea, and because I couldn’t find it, the more I sat with it, the more it grew from a “what if” to a “we have to do this!”
I think I knew this was worthwhile because I was solving a problem I lived every day. I saw how much potential working moms have—how resourceful, creative, and driven we are—but I also saw the gaps. There wasn’t a space in San Antonio dedicated to supporting moms who were building their own businesses or juggling careers and motherhood.
The logic clicked when I realized how universal this need is. Every mom I spoke to felt the same way: stretched too thin, disconnected, and longing for a place to belong. The why became so clear—this wasn’t just about coworking or networking; it was about creating a community that felt like home.
While there are coworking spaces and networking groups, none of them are tailored to the specific needs of entrepreneurial moms. We don’t just need a desk and WiFi; we need flexibility, understanding, and a space where we can show up as our whole selves—baby on our hip, coffee in hand, and big dreams in our heart.
What excited me most was the chance to create a community where moms felt truly seen and supported. I wanted to offer not just practical resources, like coworking space and business events, but also a place to exhale, to be inspired, and to connect with other women who just get it.
The idea of walking into a room filled with other strong, ambitious moms and seeing that spark of recognition in their eyes—that’s what lit me up. I knew this would work because the need was there, and I could already see the lives it would impact, including my own.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Erika Radis—a homeschooling mom of three amazing daughters, residential real estate agent, entrepreneur, podcast host, and the founder of Working Moms of San Antonio. My journey into business wasn’t exactly linear, but I believe that’s what makes it relatable. It all started with a passion for connection and a desire to create something meaningful, not just for myself but for moms like me who are navigating the complex world of motherhood and business ownership.
Before diving into entrepreneurship, I earned a bachelor’s degree in art and spent years finding creative outlets while raising my girls. I’ve always had a love for community building and problem-solving. That’s where the idea for Working Moms of San Antonio was born—a place where ambitious moms could have access to resources, relationships, and a space to thrive both professionally and personally.
At Working Moms of San Antonio, we offer a range of services:
Membership-based coworking spaces tailored to working moms, complete with high-speed WiFi, gourmet coffee, and a feminine, inspiring aesthetic.
A Business community membership that includes networking events, workshops, and access to a private online community for moms to collaborate and grow.
A media studio for podcasting, photography, and content creation.
Event rentals and curated events that bring moms together to learn, connect, and have fun.
What sets us apart is how we integrate life and work seamlessly. We know moms don’t just need a desk—they need flexibility, understanding, and a community that truly gets them. Whether it’s offering coworking members alternate accommodations during events or hosting bilingual networking for Spanish-speaking moms, we aim to be as inclusive and supportive as possible.
I think I’m most proud of the community we’ve built. It’s one thing to dream of creating a space for working moms, but seeing that vision come to life—moms collaborating on projects, cheering each other on, and celebrating their wins—is the most fulfilling part of this journey.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about Working Moms of San Antonio, it’s this: we are here to support you. Whether you’re launching your first business, looking for a place to work outside your home, or simply needing a community that understands the juggling act of motherhood and entrepreneurship, we’ve got your back.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media was all about connection and intention for us. From the start, we focused on putting out content that truly resonated with our audience—content that reflected their challenges, celebrated their wins, and made them feel seen. It wasn’t about just posting for the sake of posting; it was about creating value and building a community.
We were also very intentional about who we engaged with online. Instead of just liking and commenting randomly, we sought out accounts that aligned with our mission—local businesses, entrepreneurial moms, and organizations supporting women. Engaging thoughtfully with those accounts helped us grow relationships and, in turn, our audience.
Here’s my advice for anyone trying to grow their social media presence:
Be intentional with who you engage with. Don’t just scroll mindlessly; take the time to connect with accounts that align with your values and your audience. Social media is about relationships, not just numbers.
Be intentional with your time. It’s easy to feel like you need to be everywhere all the time, but you don’t. Set boundaries, plan your content, and focus on quality over quantity.
Be consistent. Consistency is key! But remember, consistency doesn’t have to mean overwhelming yourself. If posting five times a week feels impossible, start with two or three. The key is to show up regularly and with purpose.
Those small, intentional steps really do add up. Over time, you’ll not only grow your audience but also build a community that genuinely connects with what you’re putting out into the world.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think our reputation was built on a foundation of trust, authenticity, and delivering on our promises. From day one, we’ve been intentional about creating a community that truly serves working moms. We listen to what they need, adapt when necessary, and show up consistently with resources, events, and spaces that genuinely support them.
Another key factor has been staying true to our mission. Everything we do at Working Moms of San Antonio reflects our core values: empowering moms, fostering community, and making their lives a little easier. Whether it’s through a well-planned networking event, a beautifully designed coworking space, or simply a social media post that resonates, people know they can count on us to bring value and connection.
I also believe being visible and engaged has played a huge role. From hosting local events to featuring inspiring moms on our podcast, we’ve worked hard to be present in our market and to highlight the incredible women who are part of our community. That visibility, paired with a genuine commitment to supporting our members, has helped solidify our reputation as a trusted resource for working moms.
At the heart of it, I think our reputation has grown because we don’t just say we’re here for working moms—we live it. We’re solving real problems, celebrating real wins, and building real connections, and that’s something we hope people notice and appreciate!
