We recently connected with Erika Martinez and have shared our conversation below.
Erika, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
I believe every business needs to do something different in order to stand out and grow. In my case, I mix the beauty with the beast. The visuals are the pretty part, the things that grab peoples attention. The beast is the marketing and sales part. Most businesses focus their marketing budget on the strategy and while that is great, a well written message will not be read if it’s displayed incorrectly. For example: Royal families use their outfits to deliver and portray the message they are delivering although we do not see the words written on them. We apply the same concept to businesses online. My job is to design things that attract online sales for my clients without sayin “BUY ME”.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Erika Maram, under the creative direction of Erika Martinez (me), is a marketing agency focused on the use of visuals elements as the main asset to strengthen brands and communicate their message for better revenue. As the Creative Director, I add my years of experience in sales, customer support and degrees in art into a blend that creates the perfect balance of strategy and beauty.
Outside of my role as the Creative Director and CEO of Erika Maram, I’m a mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend. A true Scorpio and Projector in Human Design, letting you know that I am passionate about astrology and the human energy.
My goal with the Agency, and in life, is to help other women achieve success, develop their potential and embrace their unique styles with passion.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I’ve had many titles in the last 15 years. Model, talent, bartender, server, producer, marketer, artist, designer and the list goes on. You see, I started working in college and at one point I was a full time student with two full time jobs. I wanted the experience in different industries. As an art major, I wanted the experience of having my designs in a gallery so I did it. I wanted to have the experience of being the muse of an art piece so I modeled. I wanted the customer service experience during a more conformable time in my student agenda, so night bartender was it. I wanted to work from home and raise my son, so I became a business owner and applied all my experience into this agency. All those small and bog jobs led me to where I am today. Working with magazines, pioneers in their industries, females that are making big things online… those are the people I work with because they understand the grunt work behind the success. Was it easy? Not at all. Was it worth it? One hundred percent.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Delivering my mental vision in a physical matter to my clients.
Sometimes a client comes up with an idea and I can feel my mental wheels turning, creating plans and ideas. That’s the exiting part, the part that gets the creative juices flowing. Seeing my clients face when they hear my plan is 90% of the time miserable because they can not see it.
But when the final product is done and I get to SEE their facial expression to the final product, that is the most rewarding part. Knowing they like it and that we made sure it will attract sales for them.
