We were lucky to catch up with Erika J recently and have shared our conversation below.

Erika, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

Honestly, I can’t pick just one — and that’s what makes EJ’s Expressions so special. Every project I work on is custom, meaning every item carries a unique story and emotional weight. I’ve created time capsule favors for a baby’s first birthday that parents will open years from now. I’ve designed keepsakes that honor the memory of someone’s late grandmother — pieces that were cried over, hugged, and cherished. I’ve helped people surprise their best friends, spouses, and even coworkers with something heartfelt and one-of-a-kind.

Each order reminds me I’m not just making a shirt, a plaque, or a party favor — I’m helping people express love, memory, joy, and identity. That’s why I put so much intention into every detail. No two designs are ever the same, because no two stories are the same.

I’m the creator and owner behind EJ’s Expressions, a custom design brand that turns everyday moments into lasting memories. I started this journey with a simple goal: to help people express themselves and celebrate their stories in a meaningful, personalized way. What began as crafting party favors and keepsakes for family quickly grew into something much bigger — a space where creativity meets connection.

At EJ’s Expressions, I design custom t-shirts, sweatshirts, gifts, party favors, plaques, and more. Every piece is handcrafted with care and intention, tailored to the client’s vision. Whether it’s a sentimental gift, a themed birthday set, or branding for a small business, I love transforming an idea into something tangible that brings joy.

What sets me apart is the personal touch. I take time to understand not just what you want made — but why. My work is rooted in storytelling, and the emotional connection comes through in every detail. I also pride myself on quality and designs just as unique as the people they’re made for.

Yes — the heart of EJ’s Expressions is all about helping people feel seen, celebrated, and connected. My mission is to turn life’s moments — big or small — into lasting memories through custom, intentional design. Whether it’s honoring a loved one, celebrating a milestone, or simply surprising someone “just because,” my goal is to create pieces that spark emotion and remind people they matter.

At the core, I believe everyone’s story deserves to be expressed beautifully. That’s why every item I create is custom. Thoughtful, one-of-a-kind designs that carry meaning far beyond the material.

This journey is personal for me. I’m building something rooted in creativity, care, and community — and I want my work to reflect that in every package I send, every post I share, and every customer I serve

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

One story that stands out happened during one of the busiest seasons for EJ’s Expressions — right before the holidays. I had an overwhelming number of custom orders coming in, and at the same time, I was juggling motherhood, late nights, preparing to head out of town, getting my house holiday ready for family and the pressure to deliver meaningful pieces on time. There was one particular week where everything that could go wrong did: my Cricut was acting crazy, materials didn’t arrive when they said they would, and I had a few some last minute orders I was hesitant about taking on.

I was exhausted, frustrated, and honestly questioned whether I could keep up. But I reminded myself why I started: to create joy, to honor people’s stories, and to build something of my own. I stayed up after everyone else was asleep, worked with grace through the hiccups, and communicated honestly with my clients (many of whom responded with so much understanding and encouragement).

Not only did I get the orders out in time, but I came out of that season more confident in my ability to handle challenges. It also taught me a lot about setting firm boundaries. It was a turning point and proof I could do hard things, still provide excellent service, and keep the heart of my business intact.

Resilience, for me, isn’t about pushing through perfectly. It’s about staying committed, even when it’s messy. That season reminded me: I don’t just run a business — I’m building a brand with heart, hustle, and purpose.
