Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Erika Garcia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Erika, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of the most meaningful projects we’ve worked on is our ongoing outreach to people in recovery and those facing the destructive effects of addiction. The opioid crisis in North America, particularly the rise of synthetic opioids like fentanyl, has caused devastation in communities, contributing to thousands of overdose deaths each year. Many men and women affected by addiction are also dealing with deep trauma, hopelessness, and a cycle of poor decisions. Our heart has always been to meet these individuals where they are, sharing the hope of the Gospel and offering a path to healing.
Through our ministry, we’ve had the opportunity to serve in addiction rehabs centers, homeless shelters, and correctional facilities, witnessing firsthand how lives are transformed when individuals encounter the love and grace of Christ. The work is meaningful to us because we believe that no matter the circumstances or mistakes, God can bring healing and restoration. We have seen lives changed, not by our efforts, but by His power, as people find new purpose and freedom in Christ. This mission has become our life’s work, and it’s a privilege to be part of God’s redemptive plan for those struggling with addiction and brokenness.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We are Livingsong, a husband-and-wife missionary worship ministry dedicated to sharing the Gospel through worship, testimony, and outreach. Our name represents a daily commitment to becoming a “living song” of worship expressed through a lifestyle of following Jesus. Since 2011, we have traveled across the United States, Canada, and South America, bringing the hope of Christ to those in recovery support programs, homeless shelters, and correctional facilities.
Our journey into ministry began with a calling to reach the broken, the lost, and those often overlooked by society. Rather than focusing on traditional church settings, we felt led to serve in places where people are in the depths of struggle, those battling addiction, homelessness, and incarceration. What sets our ministry apart is that we don’t just visit these places; we build relationships, return to the same communities, and walk alongside those seeking transformation. Through worship music, the Gospel message, and personal testimonies, we’ve seen God restore lives and bring hope where it once seemed impossible.
In addition to outreach, we also write and produce our own worship music, inspired by the testimonies and experiences we’ve encountered on the mission field. Our heart is to create music that leads others into a deeper worship experience, reminding them of God’s faithfulness and the power of His redemption. We don’t charge fees for ministry, nor do we sell merchandise, as we fully rely on God’s provision through the generosity and prayers of those who believe in this mission.
What we are most proud of is seeing the lasting impact of this work, not because of anything we have done, but because of what God is doing. We’ve seen individuals break free from addiction, find healing from past trauma, and step into a new life with Christ. If there’s one thing we want people to know about us, it’s that we believe no one is too far gone for God’s grace. Our mission is to continue proclaiming that truth and inviting others to experience the transforming love of Jesus.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
One goal we would like to highlight is advancing our mission globally. Last year, God opened doors for us to serve in Canada and Peru, and we are prayerfully seeking opportunities to expand further throughout the American continent and beyond. As we continue to step out in faith, our desire is to reach more communities, partner with local ministries, and share the transforming power of Christ across different nations.
Ultimately, our goal is to be faithful to the Great Commission to go where God sends us, proclaim His truth, and invite others into a life-changing relationship with Him. We pray that through this ministry, lives will be restored, chains will be broken, and more people will come to know the saving power of Jesus Christ.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a worship artist and missionary is witnessing the transformative power of God through music and ministry. There is something incredible about seeing someone who is struggling, whether in addiction, homelessness, or incarceration, be deeply moved by a song or a message. Worship has a way of breaking down walls, reaching places in the heart that words alone often cannot. When we see someone encounter the presence of God in those moments, whether through tears, surrender, or simply a renewed sense of hope, it reminds us why we do what we do.
It is also rewarding to know that the songs we write and the worship we lead are vessels for healing and restoration. Music transcends barriers, and when paired with the Gospel, it becomes a powerful tool for bringing people into God’s presence. Knowing that God can use our gifts to bring hope to the least, the last, and the lost is the greatest privilege, and it keeps us pressing forward in this calling.
