We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Erika Fox. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Erika below.
Alright, Erika thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
As a business owner, I love spoiling my customers and hearing their excitement when their order arrives. I love connecting with each client and getting to know them, whenever possible, I get a sense of what they like and what the purpose of their purchase is. I often include a free gift with their purchase, this gift varies from $14 studs to an $18 pair of earrings, sometimes a one of a kind style. It all depends on what I have in stock at the time of purchase, but also I take into consideration the positive experience that I have with each customer during our conversation. I am a people pleaser by nature and I truly enjoy making each of my clients happy. The positive feedback and reviews that I receive from them makes it that much sweeter.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Erika Fox, the maker behind the brand. I am a stay at home mom of two. I started this brand in 2019, sublimating mugs and shirts, but I felt like my shop was missing something. Three years ago, I bought my first pair of polymer clay earrings and fell in love with them! I began researching video tutorials and fell in love with the process and taught myself everything I needed to make earrings and be successful. We started selling to friends and family and eventually opened an Etsy store and created our own website.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
It is important to understand that social media can be hard most of the time, I don’t have a huge group of followers as other artists do and I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to quit at times. If you are starting a new business, all you can do is put yourself out there, find people who will encourage and help you grow and be the best person you can be. I have met many lovely ladies who also make polymer clay earrings and the support I receive from them is amazing. We encourage and help each other with anything we can. From what products we use, to settings on our 3D printers. I would also suggest not counting on your personal friends or family for the support you are looking for, because in my experience and with many others, those closest to you are usually not your biggest supporters or even customers. From purchasing, sharing posts, or even referring new customers to your shop, expecting them to do so will leave you feeling overwhelmed, discouraged and hurt. Instead, find your craft and research ways to target those potential customers who will gladly pay your prices and truly value your time and work. Don’t under value yourself or your work, the right person will pay your prices and support you and your success. With that said, I have had some family members who have supported and purchased from me on several occasions and I would like to take this time to thank them for their support, you know who you are.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I have always been blessed with help from my parents, which also includes my mother and father in law. And of course, my husband. Anytime I needed supplies in the beginning and even now if I asked, I know that I can always count on our support team, my family.
