We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Erik Ramirez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Erik thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I was a bartender for eight years and worked private events for friends, family, and regulars at my job. I never imagined bartending being a job, because I enjoyed it so much. The thought of always wanting to do something in the field always came to mind, but I never pursued it. I knew with my experience I could do something and it wasn’t until 2021 when Covid hit, I was without a job, it was then, I decided, I could do this. I took the risk and started my own business, which is, Ramirez Bartending Co. My experience, and the idea was always there. The reason I knew this would work was because of the person I am, and the feedback I would get from the customers who turned into regulars. During Covid, I decided if you cannot get into a bar, why not take the bar to you. The most exciting process of this adventure was, even if it failed, it was ours. All the hard work and hours we put in, we knew it would be worth it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Cancer has affected us personally through family and friends, as well as millions. We are proud of that we are in a position to give back to our community. We are also proud that our small business is family oriented, as well as with the endless possibility of growth.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth! We created accounts in all social media platforms to stay connected and relevant! When we first started, we did not expect the large outcome of support and growing followers to come. We created business cards and a business website to make it easier for clients to book us and answer all their questions in one place.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Being relevant and resilient! Social media is number one for building an audience. When we first started, we had the support of our friends and family shouting us out and reposting our stories. Through their word of mouth and posts, our number of followers kept growing. Although, you don’t see the high number you want, does not mean you stop there. We keep going, we kept coming up with ideas to stay connected. We connect with our guest in doing giveaways and raffles. I advise anyone starting up, it won’t happen overnight. It will take months and years to build, but it won’t end there. It just means, we have to keep working harder and continue what is working for us.
