We caught up with the brilliant and insightful ERIK JONES a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, ERIK thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.

I offered my Photography services to a company who produces Broadway Stage Plays. I shot 3 shows over a weekend. After seeing the results, they hired me as the in house Photographer. It’s been 4 years and things are going really well. The next Play is scheduled for September!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’ve been in the Music/ Entertainment Business since 1996. I started in Radio Promotions. I purchased my first Nikon DSLR camera in 2007. From there, I started shooting events, concerts, VIP Events, etc. I learned how to take advantage of my connections in the industry to gain access to these events. I soon started receiving requests from clients, co-workers and friends to shoot weddings, graduations, Sweet 16 parties and Live music performances. My main focus now is Live Music & Entertainment Photography. I like portraits as well. I’m currently enrolled in Master Photography Certificate program at Montgomery College in MD. I would say that I’m proud of myself for being able to capture some of the worlds most popular Music Artists or our time. My passion for music helps me capture moments that bring fans closer to the artists. I have a unique style of shooting and editing that allows me to stand out!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

My work ethic! I may not have the skills but I will out work anyone! I always give 100% when shooting for clients and I’m always looking for ways to improve! My reliability! Clients know that when they hire me, I don’t need to be micro-managed. They hire me for what I do and they trust that I will deliver.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

I really enjoy seeing the positive response when I submit images to my clients. There’s nothing like seeing someone excited for something I created!
