I am the founder and CEO of Hawke Media. I built my first ”business” at the age of six, and my entrepreneurial journey has only accelerated since then. Over
the years, I have architected successful ventures, each driven by a desire to
revolutionize an industry and set new standards. With Hawke Media, my vision was to disrupt the marketing world for the better—and it’s something I’m proud to have achieved. In addition to its core marketing services, Hawke Media introduced HawkeAI, a cutting-edge tool that has helped over 5,000 companies benchmark analytics and improve results, further solidifying Hawke Media’s position as a leader in the marketing industry.
Over the past decade, Hawke Media has:
● Generated $2.9 billion in gross revenue
● Assisted 4,755 brands in successful growth
● Employed over 900 talented professionals
● Garnered 90 prestigious awards and recognition
● Invested in 50 companies through Hawke Ventures and 44 through Hawke Media angel
investments
● Acquired 12 unique companies broadening its expertise and offerings
This growth was achieved without incurring debt or raising outside capital. Today, Hawke Media is recognized as the top-performing marketing agency in the U.S., a testament to its unwavering commitment to challenging the status quo. As a strategist and eternal optimist, I love sharing the insights garnered from Hawke’s continued growth to help inspire others to pursue their passions with similar determination.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I think resilience is in entrepreneurship. My first job was getting into commercial real estate one week before Lehman Brothers went bankrupt in 2008. I made $350 that year, went into debt, and just looked for what I could do to keep moving forward. I started a music company from there, was able to raise $1 million in 2009 at 22 years old, which didn’t seem like any huge accomplishment back then (I have always looked at fundraising similar to a loan. We don’t celebrate getting a mortgage, we celebrate paying it back). Now later, I realize how crazy that was. I went through 4 other businesses by 26 before landing on Hawke Media. 10 years of bootstrapping it, anywhere from lawsuits that come from unethical people, to being lied to, cheated, taken advantage of, to economic headwinds, to a pandemic, the list goes on, but these are all things that happen to almost every entrepreneur. To be a sustained entrepreneur is to be resilient, because there is no easy path.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I think the biggest pivot and impact goes back to real estate. My dad was in real estate and I had this idea of following that path and eventually partnering with him. I joined a firm to go learn on my own, and hit the worst economic time since the great depression. There were several blessings in there though. First off, I was just getting started, so I wasn’t falling from some great spot, I just had a harder time getting going. In my experience now, that is much easier to work through. The economic situation also pushed me into internet businesses and leveraging a completely different part of my passion and skillsets, which I believe lead me on a much more fun, fulfilling and lucrative career path.
