Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Erik Fellows. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Erik, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Picking up moving from Maryland where I grew up to NYC when I was 20yrs old to follow my dreams in entertainment and then after 1yr of living in NYC and after the tragedy of September 11th 2001 and then yet again made another move but this time it was to Hollywood to continue on my path in entertainment!
Erik, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was at a friends how house and she babysitting a six-year boy for a friend. The boy’s mother came to pick up her son when Erik was getting ready to head home. She stopped Erik when he was leaving and asked if he had ever thought about modeling and acting. Her young son was into acting and did a lot of kid/youth modeling for big companies. She asked Erik if he was interested in trying it out because she thought he had a great look and an outgoing personality. Erik let her know that he hated drama class in high school and only had an interest in basketball. He never thought modeling would be good, stating that his friends would have teased him. She enticed him by saying they wouldn’t be teasing him if he was making a great living as a model and/or TV/movie star. Erik wasn’t sure that was a possibility, but she introduced him to a modeling agency in Georgetown, DC, if he wanted to consider it a career back up plan. I ended up going forward with signing a contract and began work as a local model. This path wasn’t his first dream, but it helped pay the bills and make him some extra cash while he was trying to figure out his next life goals. As he became more interested in the field, he relocated to New York City and decided to pursue a full modeling and acting career. He was fascinated by the bustling city life and the grueling pace of NYC. Erik went full steam ahead and studied acting in between modeling, auditions, and casting calls. He was able to land jobs that allowed him to appear in print work and commercials for designers, companies, and brands such as Macy’s, Noxzema, Nivea, GQ mag, Cosmo Magazine, American Crew, Levis, Lee Jeans, etc. Before he knew it, he was landing huge commercial campaigns for some of the biggest companies such as Verizon Wireless, Chevy Malibu, Sprint, Miller Lite, Gillette, Chrysler, and a world campaign for Pom Wonderful. Along with his commercial success, he had also graced the screen in many music videos. He has played the love interest to notable stars such as Jennifer Lopez “Me Haces Falta,” Katharine McPhee “Love Story,” Lindsay Lohan “Rumors,” and Dido “Sand in my Shoes,” Buckcherry’s video “Don’t Go Away,” playing the love interest to actress Arielle Kebbel, Papa Roach video “Scars,” OAR “Love and Memories” and his latest was the American Authors music video for their song “Neighborhood.” Erik was referred to as a male version of a music video vixen! Eventually got more into Tv and film and am known for my role as Troy Winston in the long-running NBC’s daytime soap opera “Days of our Lives.” I also had lead roles in movies such as 2019’s “Being Rose,” with Cybill Shepherd & James Brolin. “Texas Heart,” “American Cowslip,” playing opposite to Icons such as Val Kilmer , Cloris Leachman, Bruce Dern, Diane Ladd , Rip Torn & Peter Falk. I also starred in films “Jonny’s Sweet Revenge” & the action thriller “Break Even.” And was part of the long-time running television series “CSI NY” and “NCIS Los Angeles,” and my series regular roles in the multiple Emmy award-winning series “The Bay” as Damian Blackwell and my Best Lead actor win at the 2022 Indie Series awards – role as Bobby in the hit series Purgatory on Popstar! TV and his latest comedy releases are the romantic comedy and hilarious “Divorce Bait” playing the role of (Samuel Grey) as the artsy and overly confident photographer (Ex boyfriend) role playing opposite to Vannessa Vasquez as (Alexis Laguna) in the film which has been really well received with great reviews and has quickly become an audience favorite. My 2nd comedy release in 2022, now as the role of (Jimmy Starr) in the recently released dark comedy “Starf*cker” in which Erik is already receiving praise for his dynamic and vivacious performance in the film. I have a handful of projects set to come out in 2024 such as the series Second Chances where I have a recurring role and already a festival awarding film called Sunlight , as well as films No Tears in Hell, Burner and Zero Road! Along with projects in development that I’m starring in as well as producing! 2024 will be an exciting year!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I have the mentality that you should Never allow yourself to believe anything but that you can and you will. The only thing or person that controls your outcome, in the end, is you. You can get 100 million NO’s.. and that’s fine, but it’s the yes that matters and only you can determine how you will get that YES! Let them tell you NO all they want; your job is to make sure they know plain and simple that you will get that yes!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being able to create and live a character that is not you and getting to live through this character and bring this being to life is the most rewarding feeling I feel as an actor or an artist, getting to live that journey and that person shoes whoever it may be, is a thrill and a high in its own . there’s no cooler feeling than being able to do this for a living I feel. It’s pretty amazing!
