We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Erik Bustillo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Erik, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
They taught me ethics. They showed me what it means to live honorably and what it means to do the right thing. I use this in my practice methods because I am always honest with people and never seek to take advantage of anyone.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
Erik Bustillo is the son of Cuban-Colombian immigrants and is a Registered Dietitian. He attended Florida International University in Miami, FL where he earned the Registered Dietitian credential. Additionally, Erik is a Fellow and a Certified Sports Nutritionist through the International Society of Sports Nutrition- ISSN, a Certified Strength Coach, and a Certified Personal Trainer. He also specializes in reading and understanding blood/lab values that have a direct effect on the human physiology and one’s ability to perform. Several fields of expertise are energy improvement, performance recovery, weight loss, working with professional/elite athletes, stress management, and inspirational communication.
Erik has experience in clinical research studies and extensive knowledge in medical nutrition therapy. He has contributed to the field of science by being a test subject in studies as well as by helping complete and conduct clinical research studies. Erik specializes in performance nutrition for athletes with his specialty being sports nutrition, supplementation and motivation. From helping people with illness to working with Olympic, professional, and tactical athletes, Erik has a variety of experiences that can help many individuals. Erik also coaches/trains executives, recreational athletes and tactical athletes (specifically police officers). His social media handle is @erikbustillo
