We were lucky to catch up with Ericka Raye recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ericka thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
One thing I can say that my mom did right growing up was taking my sister and I on her business meetings and allowing us to listen in. This turned me into the biggest go-getter I am today. Having business smarts is definitely critical, even in the creative or entertainment industry because you have to make sure you’re not signing contracts that could potentially cost you your morality or faith. There’s so many instances that I can’t just pinpoint it to only one, but where I currently work now, at Power 104.9! I was referred over by an account executive at Streetz 94.5 and to have her believe in me so much to push me and refer me to others like she did, all because of one call and one pitch, made me forever grateful.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a bit of a versatile talent. Videographer, actress, director, screenwriter, radio personality, Tiktok influencer, almost everything you can name in the creative industry! I’ve always known since I was a child that I wanted to be an entertainer. One day, there will soon be baby pictures of me floating around on the internet of me in my mom’s wig with a little bit of my baby-fro peaking through, holding a microphone in my hand with a purple ring around my mouth from eating a lollipop. My foundation has always been acting; then it began to blossom into directing, some screenwriting, videography, social media influencing, and even radio hosting. Day by day I continue to grow in each craft God has given me and multiple it. After all, God did say be fruitful and multiple! He wasn’t just talking about recreating human life. From directing my own short film as a teenager, graduating with my bachelor’s degree in film production, having millions of views on Tiktok and starting a trend, to acting as supporting lead in a tv show, to now becoming a radio personality at Power 104.9 while getting my master’s degree in marketing. I continue everyday to genuinely become grateful for what God has done and what He continues to do, I know my journey isn’t over just yet and it hasn’t been all success. But my failures is what causes me to succeed. Hopefully my journey could be an inspiration for you to start your own success story.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Everyone mostly knows this already, but I just piggybacked off my heartbreak and used it to me advantage. This is what caused my audience to relate to me and become inspired, especially when it comes to making it out of the never ending emotions of heartbreak.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
In the end, in everything I do, I always want God to get the glory. So in a non-traditional way I just want to be a light in this dim world. That is my goal and only mission. Becoming a leading example for young girls in the world, a balanced individual to look up to.
