We recently connected with Ericka Mitterhofer and have shared our conversation below.
Ericka, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you manage your own social media?
I graduated from the University of Houston with a Communications degree, through my experience at school I got very familiar with Social Media platforms. With that being said, I run my shop’s social media from Tiktok and Pinterest to Facebook and Instagram. I have spent countless hours watching tutorial videos in order to slowly familiarize myself with the best editing apps. I would say in the future it would be nice to have a marketing team, but at the moment I think I am doing pretty well following trends on my own!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Ericka Mitterhofer. I am twenty-three and created ErickasElectricEdits during quarantine, similar to many people, I was looking for an escape to pour out my creativity. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to quickly grow a following on TIKTOK and haven’t looked back since. ErickasElectricEdits is a passion of mine and something I look forward to doing every day. I love being able to create things and later hearing from family, friends, and customers that I have made their new favorite go-to item. My shop has items that vary from glassware to trendy accessories. I am a one-man show, meaning I cover the creativity, marketing, and manufacturing aspects of my business with the support of my family and friends encouraging me every step of the way.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When starting my small business in 2020, I was creating and selling digital art. These files included laptop and phone wallpapers to social media presets and stickers. As my platform started to grow on social media, I received requests from some of my following for physical products and with that I decided to transition my shop from being a digital store to an e-commerce site that offer world-wide shipping. This transition took a little over a month as I had to get settled and learn all of the nitty-gritty things like manufacturing, wholesaling, and shipping.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
When first opening ErickasElectricEdits, I viewed my business as a hobby to keep me entertained through the quarantine, then slowly as it started to pick up speed I began to fall in love with every moment of it from the five star reviews to the relationships I was building within my shop’s niche. After graduating from the University of Houston, I took time to reflect where my company stood today and decided to have faith in it. I am currently doing it full-time and would not change a thing!
