We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Erica Workmon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Erica , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your business and how did you resolve those issues?
As an small business owner and not fully knowing everything that is intel to run a business. So you take leap of faith and invest into creating a safe space and opened my online boutique. When the pandemic happened with covid and my job shut down temporarily. It gave me full time opportunity to start . We first started off with a lip gloss, lip scrub, candle, accessories business and over time incorporated clothing , which turn out to be a great success. Over the period of time , I decided to rebrand my business due to it came a need for women and men clothing and changed my business name from 3ndl3ss Shin3 Creation to Boss Up Boutique 88 . During the transition I did research and found out alot information that was didn’t utilize in my previous business and wanted to make sure everything was
running accordingly. But there has been a major cut back due to taxes included and price changes. We are still pushing through and learning techniques on marketing strategies and properly providing the needs for our audience.

Boss Up Boutique 88 is an online womens boutique where we want everyone to feel and look good nothing their size or shape and embrace their natural beauty. Our company slogan is “8e You, 8e Bossy “ which reflects love is within yourself, you can style up or style down from hoe to toe and still feel like a Boss .
How did you build your audience on social media?
By having an online boutique it has made me break out shell and show my natural beauty, built confidence within my self so I can uplift othet ladies to love their self. From creating contents , clothing transition the biggest thing is to be consistent, don’t be scared to take a chance on yourself . You have trial and errors until you get it right and do plenty of research, there is never too much knowledge out there.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
One of the most effective ways to growing your clientele is Communication. Communication is a big key of your business, which could make or break you. Always think about what makes your business difference, why should people shop with you . If you can answer those questions you will be to progress . Advertising, sale days, marketing and show up everyday for your business.
