Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introduce you with the youngest Hispanic Franchise Developer Erica Sanchez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Erica, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
The Latino population is the fastest growing group in the United States; thus, it is imperative that business developers and other type of businesses coaches provide tools and resources from accredited experts that can help small business owners grow into a enterprise and or most importantly built passive wealth.
Hispanics are starting businesses at a faster rate than the national average across several industries, growing 34 percent over the last ten years compared to just one percent for all other small businesses. Addressing the barriers that exist for Hispanic small businesses is the first step in understanding what financial resources and tools are necessary for them to achieve solvency. This is critical for the long-term prosperity and overall economic empowerment of this community. From lack of knowledge in how to scale a small business to a franchise & awareness of business financial tools and resources.
My goal has been always to serve any business that can be elevated with franchising, but as a Hispanic woman I take pride to serve the underserve, 80% of my clients are hispanics, I am directing myself to them for the reason they have no one to provide this service to them, of my type of niche is not very common, my ten years of experience working with franchisors has providing enough leverage to be able to help and educate owners to the right path in both languages Spanish and English.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I have always been interested in business. From a young age, at the age of 21 years old I got promoted to managed 4 locations for Target Mobile, then became a district manager. I later became the Regional Assistant developer for Amazing Lash a franchise business concept. I then took a position as the VP of Business Development and Operations for a networking platform built exclusively for women. After a few years, furthering my education I pursued a Master’s degree in Business Administration in 2019. I also served as a Business Consultant for RAIL, a non-profit organization, and train entrepreneurs in Hussle Phoenix non-profit that helps small business owners take their companies to the next level. I enjoys helping the community and served in many other non-profits.
I amassed over 15 years of experience in franchise sales, operations, executive leadership, and franchising development. Before working with all women’s networking, I was an Area Director for Amazing Lash Studios in their franchise division, where I dedicated my time to managing a large territory and helping new franchise owners start their business. In 2020, I decided to open my own business, Thrive Profit Engineer, a consulting firm dedicated to helping small business owners grow their brands and net worth and offering solutions to current franchise owners needing help in their franchise. I then decided to partnered with Franchise Creator to open my second franchise consulting firm in the Phoenix area. Integrating my business development with one of the leading franchise consulting firms has allowed me to ease into the process, putting the onus of the work onto my incredibly skilled franchising team.
I focus is to create solutions to common issues in business ownership. My aim is to create customized plans for companies to be able to franchise their operations with the least hassle possible. My firm handles the entire franchise development process, from inception to launch, including all marketing and sales material, as well as lead generation and sales. Small or large businesses, We can tackle them all! Strategic development is my forte, and doing business with me means doing business with a knowledgeable individual.”
Any advice for managing a team?
Treat your employees like human beings whose personal lives are important. Flexible hours, conversations about self-care, and work-from-home policies will help workers address those real-life needs at home. This frees them up to bring their best energy to work — and morale will soar. Invite employees to share skills, It feels good to be an expert. So help your employees shine by creating opportunities for them to showcase their skills and knowledge. These have been simple values that have helped me manage my team and deliver results.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Ask for referrals. Referrals are one of the best ways to get new customers—but if you sit back and wait for your current customers to refer their friends and family members to you, you could be waiting a long time. Take charge by implementing a system for actively soliciting referrals from your satisfied customers. Build referral-generating activity into the sales process. Participate in community events. All else being equal, most people like to support independent businesses in their communities. Raise your profile in your community by taking part in charity events and organizations. Sponsor a local fun run, organize a holiday “toys for kids” donation, or supply a Little League team in your city with equipment. It gets your name out there, which helps bring in new customers.
