Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Erica Randle Davis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Erica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
A very important lesson that I have learned coming from 15 years of Property Management Experience as a Property Manager in Multi Family as well as Single Family is always treat the customer and others how I would like to be treated no matter the situation. By doing so it created the realization that empathy and kindness creates a ripple effect. I have always kept that on the forefront of my mind no matter what I was dealing with in any given moment whether it was a good situation or unfortunate one. By putting myself in someone else’s shoes and considering their feelings, I fostered a mutual respect and understanding, which led to a peaceful harmonized relationship of trust and operating on a level of excellence and professionalism like no other building a positive environment along with strong long lasting relationships. Being in property management were definitely not always easy days. there were times many many many of times over a 15 year period where I had to deny applicants Lease Application or deal with unforeseen work order issues such as busted Hot water heaters or no air conditioner are a few examples which can cause friction within any human being. But Keeping God first and foremost in my life has profoundly impacted how I treat others, as it aligns with my actions with the principles of love, compassion, and humility. It’s an act of being selfless and serving others. Now as a Realtor, treating others how I would like to be treated has significantly simplified and enhance my job in several ways.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One story that illustrates my resilience as a Realtor was this particularly challenging situation with a client who was struggling to find a home that met their needs within their budget amount. The housing market was highly competitive, with homes being sold almost as soon as they were listed. Despite these challenges, I remained determined to help my client find the perfect home for them. But wait when I finally found the 1st home to their liking and the offer was accepted right before the initial Closing Day we found out that there was a substantial amount of repairs needed and we could no longer move forward with them purchasing this home. At this point there were a few moments when my client was ready to give up, I didn’t lose hope. Instead, I dug even deeper, overcame this obstacle staying on top of new listings, encouraging them all while being persistent and loving what I do. It paid off when I found a home the very next day that fit my client’s needs perfectly. They were able to become a 1st time Homebuyer! Yes my resilience caused me to quickly recover by staying focused, being resourceful, and never giving up on the goal of helping my clients achieve their dreams and getting them to the Closing Day happened .
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn in real estate is the belief that “I can control every aspect of the deal.”
The Backstory behind that statement is in real estate I believed that with enough effort, organization, and communication, I could manage and control every aspect of a transaction. I went up and beyond taking great pride in being detail-oriented and making sure nothing slipped through the cracks, which served me very well in many situations. For example, I was on point having meticulously handled each step, from showing properties to closing, making sure each client had all the information, every deadline was met, and every issue was addressed. But as I gained more experience, I encountered situations where, despite my best efforts, things didn’t always work out and sometimes fell apart—whether it was a deal collapsing due to financing issues, a seller changing their mind last minute, or external unforeseen factors impacting the transaction.
There have been moments of frustration when I realized that no matter how hard I worked, some things were simply out of my control. There have been times when a promising deal fell through despite all my planning and hard work, or my client’s circumstances changed unexpectedly and they were not longer interested in moving forward with completing a real estate transaction during that season. That realization led to stress and frustration, as it conflicted with my desire to provide excellent customer service and have a smooth process for every client. I had to realize and unlearn the idea that I couldn’t control everything and instead I learned to focus on every aspect of what I could control, which was my expertise, communication, and being able to adapt and pivot swiftly when situations arise. I became more comfortable with the unpredictability of real estate and understood that success comes not from controlling every detail, but from being resilient and resourceful in handling the unexpected. When I learned how to shift it brought me more peace of mind, helping me accept that while I can manage a great deal, some factors will always be beyond my control. It allowed me to focus on the bigger picture, navigating challenges with confidence rather than stress, and ultimately serving my clients better by staying calm under pressure.
