We were lucky to catch up with Erica Peterson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Erica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Showing clients you appreciate them is something I think most folks want to do – but it’s not always clear how to do it in a meaningful way. What’s one of the best examples of client appreciation you can share with us?
Our business is built on loving on our clients! We strive to show our clients they mean the world to us and we do that in a few ways. -We host quarterly client appreciation events ranging from happy hour to our biggest one- pictures with Santa.
-We support our clients business whenever possible!
– We have a client group that we do regular giveaways and some other fun things in.
– We go above and beyond for our clients during the transaction, no matter how big or small that transaction may be.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was working a factory job that I hated every minute of but I knew my family needed it. I came home from work miserable everyday. During this time we had saved enough to buy our first home. We went through the process of purchasing a home and I just remember the feeling I had on closing day, we actually did it! After it was all said and done I kept thinking about how much I missed the process. I LOVED everything about it, even when things got stressful. I told my husband I wanted to get my Real Estate license, he agreed even though I’m pretty sure he thought I was a little crazy. I got it and started to work part time. I quickly realized starting out I needed to join a team to learn from. So I did. I joined a team as a buyers agent and had success! I was able to quit the job I hated and dive full time into Real Estate! After a year and a half on the team I felt like it was time to go out on my own! I quit the team to become a solo agent and started from ground zero. There were a few times in there where I had to lean on my husband 100% as I wasn’t bringing in what we needed to make it. I started to grind, day in and day out. I hired an amazing Real Estate coach who I felt aligned with where I was in life. My business took off! When I was pregnant with my second child my husband actually got his license as well to help me after I had the baby. He turned out loving it! I ended up busier and busier and my husband was actually able to quit his day job and join me in Real Estate full time! Peterson Home Team was born!
We are a full service Real Estate Team! We help clients buy and sell properties. We help with everything from first time home buyers to investors and everything in between. We are different then most of the Real Estate agents in our industry as we are problem solvers. There have been so many times when something comes up that almost costs our buyers the home. We pride ourselves on getting to the closing table even when it takes some outside the box thinking! We work with some of the industries top people to find a solution to almost anything that comes up.
We absolutely love that we get to help so many families with one of the largest financial decisions in their lives. Some people aren’t even sure if becoming a homeowner will ever their reality and we are able to help them make it a dream come true. We love that we get to help these families create generational wealth.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Shortly after getting licensed and joining a team, my daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I had been in Real Estate less then six months when our entire world was flipped upside down. We spent a week in the hospital and came out with a whole new way we had to live life. We now had to be very selective with child care and in turn she ended up joining me at work most of the time until she started school. She became my sidekick and a pro at showing houses. Even now, our entire world/ schedule revolves around taking care of her, so she still joins us most the time we work after school hours. It’s become a family affair which is actually kid of nice.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
From day one I have strived to create a great experience for my clients during, what can sometimes, be a stressful time. We always go above and beyond to make sure our clients feel comfortable throughout the process and make sure they are knowledgeable on what’s happening each step of the way. Our clients feel more then comfortable referring us to their friends and family which has created a 100% referral based business, which is honestly incredible.
