We recently connected with Erica Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Erica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Our business name was inspired by our daughter’s initials EKJ, which hold special significance for us. We wanted to create a legacy and generational wealth, starting with her as our focal point. By choosing a name that honors her, we aim to build a strong foundation for the future. Our goal is to instill values of hard work, innovation, and financial literacy, ensuring she understands the essence of entrepreneurship. As she grows, involving her in the business will provide her invaluable skills and insights. This commitment reflects our dedication and love, ensuring that she inherits a thriving business and the values and dreams we cherish.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Last year, my husband and I got married, and we decided to have a Photo Booth at our wedding. Like many others, we initially thought, “Why not just buy one?” Little did we know, entering the Photo Booth Business involved much more than simply making a purchase; that was just the beginning. I justified our decision by suggesting we could eventually start a side business, and here we are! What makes us unique is our understanding of the desire for a memorable and enjoyable event experience, while also considering budget constraints. I’m pleased to say that we are competitive with others in the market, yet we offer something distinctive. We’re continually seeking new ways to stand out and make our service exceptional.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media requires a strategic approach that combines engaging content, consistent posting, and active community interactions. Start by identifying your target audience and choosing the right platforms- Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok are popular for visual businesses. Share quality photos and videos showcasing your work and happy customers. Use relevant hashtags to increase discoverability and collaborate with local influencers or businesses that cater to your own business. Engage with your audience by responding to comments, hosting contests, and encouraging user-generated content where your customers can share their thoughts on their experience with your business. Consistency is posting and maintaining an image with your unique brand will help build a loyal following, transforming your social media into a marketing tool.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
We began our journey with a Digital Only Photo Booth. After securing a few bookings, we used the earnings to reinvest in our business, and we purchased a printer and other essential components. Initially, we financed the Photo Booth using a credit card, with my husband and I sharing the cost. By the time our wedding arrived, the debt was settled, allowing us to officially launch the business the following spring of 2025. Since then, we have been fortunate enough to be able to keep reinvesting in our business with our earnings and not have much out-of-pocket cost.
