We recently connected with Erica Harrison and have shared our conversation below.
Erica , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’ve love to hear an interesting investment story – what was one of the best or worst investments you’ve made? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
The best investments I have made have been within myself… I continuously have invested into my craft into my business and into me personally, and it continues to pay off with different opportunities present to me. For example, I’ve renovated my studio twice… And the second renovation has allowed me to establish myself in a more professional manner within the music industry. I have full quality equipment in there, and I’m able to make money off of Hoefling other Creatives by allowing them to rent my space to record music or to create videos… Therefore, I no longer have to pay to create Contant or music on a regular regular basis because I have the space to do so, and I can also use that as leverage and a bartering tool for myself as well. Not only does it allow me to be a financially gaining entrepreneur that allows me to set myself aside from the regular artist who does not have these type of tools after every day disposal. It allows me to be able to record music and turn it in for Sync licensing submissions on a short amount of time for myself and for others it’s just overall great stepping stool and that’s just one example of investing into myself.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Keke Nova. I am a recording artist and song writer. I have landed international campaigns for major brands that purchased my music to utilize for ads movies film and things of that nature. We’re talking VH1,NBA,NFL, NHL, Impact wrestling, Albertsons’, Juvéderm, and more. My background is public relations and brand management where I’ve spent years helping people get their business in front of their ideal consumer or help give them more brand awareness. At this point, I work with consulting clients in regards to brand management as well as full-time Artist work with songwriting and Sync licensing. I have written four children’s books based on manifestations, affirmations and self-love, and have published a book online currently available on Amazon teaching people how to become paid content creators called “ Becoming a Content Creator #LifstyleInfluencer”. I have spent four years as a micro influencer receiving money and products from brands around the world and helping them sell their products on TikTok shop as a host. Everything that I spend my time and career on has to do with Music and Media. This is from performances to planning and executing events. I’m definitely a connector… or middle girl who connects people with opportunities and situations… I guess you can say I know someone for everyone… So people normally reach out to me when they’re trying to get something established or creatively done with her business and I help them along the way, as well as try to connect my assets and the right people in position to help create the overall vision and execute the campaign that myself or a client may be looking for.
Lastly, I have created a Sync license and agency that’s getting ready to launch within the next month allowing Artist to have that direct connection to get their music placed on TV film ads and get paid for it. Helping Creatives get to their creative goal is definitely a passion of mine.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn would be when you end up reaching a financial goal or finally receiving a large amount of money for your business, it doesn’t stop there! Just because you’ve reached a goal doesn’t mean you’re gonna keep going higher and higher at reaching your goal in life, there are setbacks and those setbacks sometimes make you restart things from scratch. I thought that once you hit your financial goals, you just keep going up up and up. It takes strong consistency, planning and dedication to be able to keep yourself at that level, and to go further past that level takes a whole nether level of discipline and consistency and preparation and research… so the overall lesson learned is just because you reach your goal, that does not mean everything else is going to be smooth sailing …you are going to have to grind and scrape and make sure you don’t allow yourself to get back into a place where you have to start all over again. It’s one thing to make it happen, but it’s a lot more work to keep it going, and keep it flourishing from there.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A year ago I made a Latin hip hop record called “Mucho” at the time when the record was made, I ended up going to Miami and I had this great goal. An idea to shoot my music video there on a yacht. Within this year, I thought I would have the correct budget to make the song pop and after running out of money, I did not have the budget to really put behind the record. It had got in front of some bigwigs at a label and they talked about, backing it financially, and they decided not to, a year later financially I was able to shoot the video In Miami with all of the bells and whistles that I wanted… I was able to hire an amazing female ran all black crew, which I was excited because I like to pour back into my community, I also got to hire an all black cast, and this was not only for that music video. It was for all three music videos. I shot in Miami that I was able to hire a black cast and crew. A year prior to that I had no idea how it was even going to make that dream happen but being resilient and consistent as well as dedicated to my craft I made it happen and not only did I make it happen. I was able to shoot three videos in Miami not just one. ( One of the records that I shot a video to in Miami, I did that song three years ago, never give up )As well as get an extremely wonderful amount of content and photos for my social media influencer work. By staying consistent and dedicated, while not giving up on myself and consistently investing into me, I have three quality Latin hip-hop music videos that were shot in Miami produced and created by an all black media crew. My resilience allowed me to pour into myself and my community and I was able to get amazing quality content From that I will now use to financially gain off of my career
