We were lucky to catch up with Erica Hahn recently and have shared our conversation below.
Erica, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Sweet Clicks was born from a blend of creativity, vision, and a desire to redefine how people experience desserts and social gatherings. As someone with nearly 18 years of experience in international business development, I’ve always been attuned to emerging trends and the emotional connections people seek in their experiences.
The idea for Sweet Clicks came to me after reflecting on my experience as the owner of a boba tea shop. While the drinks were popular, I noticed that the space lacked an appealing aesthetic to truly draw people in and create memorable experiences. At the same time, as a mother of two teenagers, I often found it challenging to engage in activities they were genuinely excited about doing with me. This sparked an idea: what if I could create a place where parents and their children could find common ground—a space that felt exciting, fun, and inviting for everyone? I envisioned a destination that combined high-quality, artisanal treats with a vibrant, photogenic environment where families could share moments, laughter, and connection.
The logic was simple yet profound. Social media is now a primary way people connect and share their lives. By combining high-quality, artisanal products with an environment designed for sharing and storytelling, Sweet Clicks could tap into a powerful cultural phenomenon.
Moreover, my research showed that many dessert shops lacked differentiation. Most focused on product offerings without giving much thought to the customer experience or the growing importance of social media in brand building. Sweet Clicks addressed these gaps by offering:
– **A Unique Concept:** A photogenic, thematic setting designed to captivate guests and make them feel like part of a story worth sharing.
– **Authentic Products:** Italian gelato, boba tea, smoothies, and other treats crafted with love and authenticity.
– **Scalability:** A business model designed from the start to be low-investment and highly profitable, making it perfect for future franchising.
The problem I sought to solve was twofold. First, I wanted to create a business that would thrive in a competitive market by offering a differentiated concept. Second, I aimed to develop a model that could empower others—particularly women entrepreneurs—with limited resources to invest in their futures through franchising.
The excitement came from knowing that Sweet Clicks would not only delight customers but also create opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs to succeed. With a low-investment, high-return micro-franchise model, Sweet Clicks is positioned to grow organically while supporting community development.
Starting Sweet Clicks was deeply personal. As a businesswoman and mother, I wanted to create a space where families could come together and make memories. I also wanted to inspire other entrepreneurs, particularly women, to see that with the right idea and determination, they too could build something extraordinary.
Seeing the smiles on customers’ faces and knowing that Sweet Clicks offers more than just desserts—it offers moments of joy and connection—is what drives me. It’s a labor of love, vision, and a belief in the power of combining business acumen with heartfelt creativity.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Erica Hahn, an entrepreneur with nearly two decades of experience in business development and a passion for creating memorable experiences. My journey into the world of business and entrepreneurship started with a passion for creating unique experiences for people. I first entered the industry through a business called Chewy Boba, which I later rebranded as The Boba Company. This was not just a business venture for me; it was a pathway to building a life in the United States and creating something that people could connect with on a deeper level.
I learned about boba tea from an Asian family, who shared their traditions and knowledge with me, allowing me to refine and improve recipes and the overall customer experience. Over time, I transformed The Boba Company into a profitable business by focusing not just on quality products, but on creating an experience that kept customers coming back.
Now, with my brand Sweet Clicks, I’ve taken that knowledge and expanded it to offer a broader and more immersive experience. Sweet Clicks combines creative design, high-quality products, and a focus on family-friendly, Instagram-worthy spaces that allow people to create memories and connect. Our concept is more than just food; it’s about fostering an atmosphere where families and friends can bond, share moments, and enjoy delicious treats together.
What sets Sweet Clicks apart is the emphasis on both the quality of our products and the unique environment we provide. People don’t just visit for a quick snack; they come to enjoy the experience itself. Our locations are designed to captivate and inspire, turning every visit into an opportunity for fun, connection, and joy.
I am most proud of how Sweet Clicks has evolved into a place where families can enjoy quality time together, especially in today’s fast-paced world, where finding activities that everyone can enjoy is increasingly difficult. Our concept has resonated deeply with people, and the response to the design and creativity of our stores has been overwhelmingly positive.
Above all, I want people to know that Sweet Clicks is about more than just offering a product—it’s about creating an experience. We are committed to innovation, customer satisfaction, and building a brand that people can trust, love, and return to time and time again.

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
Yes, we manufacture our gelato in-house, and the decision to do so was a key part of our strategy to offer a product that was truly unique and customizable. Early on, we realized that the gelato industry largely relies on the same suppliers for ice cream products, which resulted in many businesses offering very similar items. We wanted to differentiate ourselves by offering a product that not only tasted exceptional but also gave us the ability to innovate with new flavors and ingredients whenever we wanted.
To make this vision a reality, I decided to learn from the best in the industry. I trained with top gelato masters, who taught me the art and science of making gelato from scratch. This training allowed us to craft products using premium ingredients, ensuring the highest quality and consistency. The hands-on knowledge I gained has been crucial to developing a product line that we can truly call our own.
In the process of searching for suppliers, we discovered that many companies offering high-quality gelato products had extremely high prices. This made it difficult to maintain the level of quality we wanted while keeping our costs manageable. It was then that we decided to take matters into our own hands and begin manufacturing the gelato ourselves. This approach allowed us to maintain control over every aspect of the process—from the quality of ingredients to the final product—while keeping our prices competitive.
The key lesson we’ve learned along the way is that producing a product in-house gives you far more flexibility and control, but it also requires a great deal of attention to detail and dedication. Manufacturing gelato has taught us the importance of balancing quality, creativity, and cost-efficiency. We’ve been able to refine our recipes continuously and introduce exciting new options for our customers, all while staying true to our commitment to excellence.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been a combination of several key approaches. First and foremost, social media has been a powerful tool for us. It allows us to visually showcase our unique offerings and engage with potential customers in a direct and personal way. We’ve also invested in marketing campaigns and collaborations with influencers who align with our brand, helping us reach a wider audience and build trust with new customers.
Google Ads has also played a crucial role in driving traffic and attracting people to our physical location. However, the most impactful strategy, without a doubt, has been word-of-mouth. Our customers recommending our place to others has been invaluable. To foster this, we focus on delivering an exceptional product and providing outstanding customer service. When people have a great experience, they naturally want to share it, which is the most organic form of growth we can ask for. At the end of the day, having a great product and delivering excellent service is what keeps customers coming back and encouraging their friends and family to visit.
