We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Erica Friedman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Erica below.
Erica, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Movement has always been a huge part of my life. But, during my first pregnancy and after my son was born I felt overwhelmed by the direction I received around my return to exercise and the activities I enjoyed doing. My body felt so different physically. I was also going through a rollercoaster of emotions navigating the transition to motherhood, lack of sleep, feeding, a new city, and my own identity as an athlete.
It was then I sought out Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy (self referred) and additional education in Core + Pelvic Health. I wanted to not only help myself and support my own recovery, but be able to support other moms. There is a lot of misinformation on the internet. Many of it creates fear, or is just not based on research. I want to empower moms through education, movement, and supporting them through this life transition, and all of the amazing mom adventures to come.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a Pre & Postnatal Fitness Coach that works with pregnant and postpartum people through all phases of motherhood, trying to conceive to postpartum and beyond. My goal is to help mamas feel strong, powerful, and confident through movement. I offer 1:1 personal training both in person + virtually, small groups, and online programming. I will also have an 8-week Return to Fitness Postpartum program that will be available Fall 2022.
I truly love what I do. Supporting mamas during this season of life, keeping them moving with confidence in all the ways is a dream come true. I am extremely passionate about best serving my clients and community, continuing education, and consistently “showing up.” I have wonderful client retention because my clients become friends. We grow together in many ways. What I do goes beyond the workouts.
Have you ever had to pivot?
COVID has been a difficult time as a small business owner, especially working with an at risk population. For a long time (and even now) I train clients virtually. As a coach I’ve learned a lot about cueing and how to support clients from afar. I continue to offer this service, as I also work with clients outside of San Diego too.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I love social media because it has connected me to many coaches/colleagues, mamas locally and afar, and made a big world sometimes feel a bit smaller. I often found platforms a bit overwhelming and really try to have boundaries around my participation. I think my clients and followers respect that and know that when I do put content out there, it’s worth reading. I’ve completely built my community organically. I recommend showing up consistently (even just in stories), connecting with colleagues and doing collaborations to get in front of their audiences, and being willing to experiment.
