Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Erica D’Arcangelo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Erica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry.
One of the biggest trends I’m seeing in my industry is the use of Ai. Knowing how to use it responsibly is very important, not just for agencies, but business owners. For example, Ai is a fabulous research tool however there has to be differentiation regarding the best practices. When it comes to social media it can be helpful in terms of giving you ideas of what content to create but the human element of you talking to your consumers can’t be replaced by this. Or, in terms of content creation, idea and research time can be cut in half but do you want a machine communicating your message or do you feel more confident with a human element.
Erica, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started working in the marketing industry back in 2001. This was before social media was a real thing. I went to college for Communications with minors in Advertising and Journalism. My first job was for a non-profit corporation in the healthcare industry. It was where I learned so much about everything from writing copy to coding websites to working with media, appearing on radio shows and in newspapers to get press and much more. At the time I felt very committed to the company I worked for as they were really helping people. After that I decided to branch out and use the tools and technology that I learned to help business owners to grow their own businesses.
The problem that I solve for clients is helping them to determine their message and brand and also what type of marketing will work best for them. Then creatively to help them put that together so it can be pushed out to their consumers.
The products and services I provide are branding, website design, SEO, content creation (blogs and website content), video production, social media content, and email marketing.
I’m most proud of some of the work I’ve done in the healthcare industry particularly with staffing, urgent care and addiction recovery. Additionally, I recently helped my father’s pizzeria (that my grandfather opened in 1960) to go viral on TikTok which was a really fun and creative project that was also connected to my family.
I also love the creative process of branding and web design and giving the client a new upgraded look that better represents what they do.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My particular goal or mission driving my creative journey is to help improve things for the people around me. Whether it’s a client or an employee I want their live to be in a better condition after having worked with myself or my company.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
My side hustle was when I first began this business. I didn’t know how much I needed or wanted to grow it. At the time I was a single mother of a 4 year old. I knew I had to provide for my child and I needed to figure out how to do that pretty quickly. I found a need – a company that needed the marketing services that I did, namely content creation at the time and I filled it. I soon got a second client, then a third. Today I’ve worked with over 700 business owners and marketing agencies.
