We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Erica Clark a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Erica , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
The key component for becoming successful, in my opinion, is a positive mindset. Experience has taught me that in every step along the way, from the initial launching, down to the planning and execution of your business, a positive mindset is a requirement and maybe even your best asset. With every ebb and flow, a refreshed and refocused mind is what keeps us on fire and steady in business. The money will come, the clients will come but, it all starts with the proper mindset.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
In 2019 I created a brand for children called “Koko Knows!” LLC. With it, I developed a workbook for children ages 3-10 and it teaches lessons on topics discussed inside and outside of the classroom. Each workbook creates in children a balance between fundamental values and understanding how to operate in the real world as a good person with great personal qualities. I use problem solving translated through math, science, English, etc to build confidence and integrity in our youth and their impressionable and constantly growing minds.
Creating, writing and then publishing my own workbook led me into publishing more books of my own like my book of affirmations for entrepreneurs. As my peers learned about my new experience as a published author, I became their mentor and inspiration to publish books of their own through my company.
Along the way, I retained so much information about my clients and their business needs that it ultimately inspired me to become a business mentor. I recognized that there was a huge space available for me to help people reach their goals in entrepreneurship even if it only meant assisting them with getting started on their ideas or publishing their own work. Getting started is the hard part! It’s possible and I can help you get there.
I am now excited to announce that “Koko Knows!” is consistently growing and releasing a series of online childrens cartoon shows to bring alive the adventures and characters in our workbooks !
Just like a domino effect, after the success of launching one brand, I was pushed to develop my second brand; “MomWifeBossLife”, which is a platform catering to leadership development and includes me blogging, podcasting and public speaking about Maintaining balance between personal relationships and business responsibilities with a clear and healthy mindset.
My website offers both personal and business tips for success that most people aren’t aware of. Like, why trademarks are important and the positive effects of having a mentor/coach in business and in life to guide you through your journey.
My overall goal is to increase leadership skills and positive thinking in my clients with my coaching experience. I want to educate people of every age and stage of life about mental health awareness and balance in business and to encourage a healthy mindset while being an entrepreneur acting as a vessel to everyone and everything you pour yourself out to.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In my younger years, I worked in the field of early childhood education. I experienced teaching children at every level from daycare up to after school programs with teenagers. I also have my own four children that I taught from our home at the break of the coronavirus pandemic that spread throughout the country in 2020. All of my children are bright honor roll students with a genuine passion for life and love for their family.
I have also earned myself the privilege of wearing many hats as I have worked in corporate America and have spent several years being the heart and voice of major companies acting as a liaison for the clients and my employer.
At age 35, I studied medical administration and business at Strayer University while shifting employment fields and landing a job within a family practice for over six years. Although my financial needs were being met, I quickly learned that money is not everything although it’s great to have! But, I was unfulfilled and not working in my purpose. I was just doing what I had to do to survive.
Somehow , I would find myself circling back around to working with children. So, when the pandemic started , I was relieved of my duties in the medical field and with that open window of opportunity I decided to not only become an entrepreneur but, to create a brand based around my passion, which is education and working with children and teach minds that were eager to learn.
I have since found so much joy and freedom in what I am doing. Not only am I writing books to educate the youth, publishing a variety of books, speaking at public events and on a podcast show, I am also delighted to announce that I can add CASA to my list of achievements where I act as a voice for abused and neglected foster children.
I am walking in my purpose and changing the world and the way people think about themselves!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I am driven by peoples need for education. Not limited to the academia taught inside of classrooms but also the real world and the things that life teach us.
How many times have you entered a restaurant and had to practice restraint because of a horrible customer service experience ? Or how do you feel when you see a child or adult seemingly sad, depressed or feeling like giving up because of something that makes them feel inadequate because they don’t understand how or what to do?
We deal with these types of experiences all of the time and yet instead of investing the time to reach out and teach one another, we turn to posting negative public reviews which has evolved into social media bullying.
I want to teach people of all ages and stages how to become an asset and develop a positive mindset for success, life and happiness.
