We recently connected with Erica Caldwell and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Erica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
At Faithworks Realty, our mission is deeply rooted in personal experience and a genuine desire to create lasting change. The drive to empower single mothers with affordable, quality homes stems from my own journey and the challenges I’ve faced. Growing up in a low-income neighborhood, I witnessed firsthand the struggles that families endure when they lack stable, secure housing. The tragic loss of my younger brother to gun violence in our community further fueled my determination to make a difference.
This mission is meaningful to me because I understand the impact that safe, supportive environments can have on a family’s future. By providing homes and resources that foster financial independence, I’m not just building houses—I’m creating opportunities for growth, stability, and success. Every home we build represents hope, resilience, and the possibility of a brighter future for the families we serve.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Erica Caldwell, a Texas native with a deep passion for real estate and a strong commitment to making a difference in my community. My journey in real estate began at the age of 26, driven by a desire to create a better life for myself and others. Overcoming personal challenges, including the loss of my younger brother to gun violence in a low-income neighborhood, has only strengthened my resolve to help others break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future.
Faithworks Realty is more than just a real estate company—it’s a mission-driven brand dedicated to empowering single mothers through affordable, quality housing. We don’t just build homes; we build communities that provide safety, stability, and support. Our Women Empowerment Housing Program is designed to help single mothers achieve financial independence and create a nurturing environment for their families.
What sets us apart is our holistic approach. We understand that financial stability is key to long-term success, which is why we offer resources like our Credit Repair Program to help our clients strengthen their financial foundations. Every home we build is part of a larger vision to create vibrant, supportive communities where families can thrive.
At Faithworks Realty, we’re driven by a passion for change and a commitment to transforming lives. Our work is more than just business—it’s a calling to empower, uplift, and make a lasting impact.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building a strong reputation in the real estate market has been a journey that required a strategic blend of networking and digital presence. Attending network marketing events has been instrumental in my growth. These events provide a unique opportunity to meet and connect with industry leaders, potential partners, and other professionals who share a passion for real estate. By actively participating in these events, I’ve been able to exchange ideas, gain insights into market trends, and establish relationships that have directly contributed to the success and visibility of Faithworks Realty.
Networking isn’t just about handing out business cards; it’s about building meaningful connections that can lead to long-term partnerships and collaborations. These relationships have been pivotal in helping me navigate the challenges of the real estate industry and open doors to new opportunities.
In parallel, leveraging social media has been a game-changer. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn have allowed me to showcase the work we’re doing at Faithworks Realty, share the stories behind our mission, and engage with a broader audience. Through consistent and authentic content, I’ve been able to build trust and credibility, which are crucial in real estate. Social media has also enabled me to reach potential clients and collaborators beyond my immediate geographical area, expanding the impact of my business.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most important lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that being in business is solely about making money. When I first ventured into real estate, I was driven by the desire to create financial stability and success. Like many entrepreneurs, I believed that the ultimate measure of success was profit. However, as I grew in the industry and faced the realities of my community, I realized that this mindset was limiting.
The turning point came when I lost my younger brother to gun violence in the low-income neighborhood where we grew up. This tragic event made me reflect deeply on the impact I wanted to have—not just on my life, but on the lives of others who faced similar struggles. I began to see that the true value of my business wasn’t in the profits it generated, but in the difference it could make in people’s lives.
This realization led me to shift my focus from purely financial goals to a mission-driven approach. I wanted Faithworks Realty to be about more than just building houses; I wanted it to be about building communities, providing support, and creating opportunities for single mothers and their families to thrive. It became clear that the real reward was not in the money, but in the lives we could transform through our work.
Unlearning the idea that business is just about money allowed me to embrace a deeper purpose. It reshaped my approach to real estate and inspired me to create programs like the Women Empowerment Housing Program, which focuses on providing not just homes, but also the resources and support needed for long-term success. This lesson has not only brought greater fulfillment to my work but has also driven the growth and impact of my business in ways that I never imagined when I first started.
