Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eric Schaeffer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Eric thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
There isn’t an exact moment in my life that I knew I’d be doing photography for a living. By the time I was 12 years old I was filming skateboarding and taking photographs of my friends every day. I took photography in high school, and thats when my interest in photography and cameras became more of an passion. For the first time I was learning something in school that made me excited to go to class, learn, and even pursue on my own time. To this day I still research new equipment, observe photography techniques, research renounced photographers, and shoot photographs daily to constantly keep improving. There wasn’t any other career path I wanted to follow

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a photographer, videographer, and small business owner from Philadelphia. I created my company a little over 5 years ago, prior to that my endeavors led me to New York, Miami, Delaware, and back to Philadelphia. Since returning to Philadelphia, I have worked at numerous mixed media production companies, subcontracted for other local photographers, and assisted some of who I consider to be the best filmmakers in the area. Working with local businesses and artists from Philadelphia is important to me because it fosters a sense of community and connection to my roots. The local artist and businesses all have a story that started here or brought them here, and collaborating with them through photography and videography has been the best part of starting a company in Philadelphia.
Street photography in Philadelphia has been an important element of my creative process since I was a teenager. I had my first photography exhibition “Long Time Coming” at Gallery Six33 last December, with a jam packed opening night. I’m currently working on a new project I plan to showcase late 2025. I consistently show lifestyle/street photography on my instagram and photoblog as well as information on buying prints and one of a kind framed photographs.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
My personal work and professional work require the same process and execution. It’s me working with others to create something that tells a story for people to consume and relate to.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My social media is my community here in Philadelphia. I share my professional work, personal photography, local businesses I like, my friends, family stories, and projects I’m currently working on. The interactions I have on them are with people I’ve developed relationships with and their community. The local ecosystem here helps everyone involved, its important to support the people who support you.
