Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eric Luongo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Eric, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I am working to create an outdoor museum featuring Van Gogh-inspired pieces, other post-impressionist artists, as well as original works. This project was born out of a desire to counter the negativity of the pandemic era and to foster a sense of community through art within my small historic village and beyond. I am excited to offer something entirely unique to the world of art. As far I know, nothing like this has been done before. Each piece is painted onto a “canvas” that I build from treated pine wood planks. Each piece is 4 feet in length and 4 feet in width, with all boards are off set, but it can vary in size per customer’s vision as well. Through this project, I aim to provide a positive and uplifting experience for the community and foster connections among neighbors and create a shared space for enjoyment. The response to this project has been overwhelmingly positive. I’ve made new connections among people and created a sense of shared pride. These outdoor pieces have provided a source of comfort and inspiration for many. I typically work on the pieces outdoors, in front of my home, which has led countless impromptu conversations with neighbors and those just driving by. I enjoy exploring new mediums and techniques through my creations which has led to personal and artistic growth. By placing the art in public spaces, it is accessible to everyone. I am currently working on my largest piece yet, which is situated in front of the community center in our town.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a visual artist whose passion for creating has spanned over two decades. Influenced by masters like Van Gogh, Edward Hopper, Norman Rockwell, Thomas Eakins, and Bob Ross, my work is a unique blend of traditional techniques and contemporary expression.
For me, art is more than a hobby; it’s a therapeutic escape and a way to connect with the world. My journey as an artist has been marked by experimentation with various mediums and styles, always seeking new ways to evoke emotion and inspire others.
A turning point came during the pandemic when I felt a deep desire to share positivity and hope through art. By gifting my creations to friends and neighbors, I witnessed firsthand the transformative power of art. This experience ignited a passion for creating large-scale, outdoor pieces that could brighten communities and spark joy.
My signature style involves building a wooden “canvas” and transforming it into a stunning work of art. These unique pieces are not only visually captivating but also incredibly durable, designed to withstand the elements. Each piece is a testament to my dedication to creating art that is both beautiful and accessible to everyone. With a growing collection of over 23 pieces and a loyal following, I am excited to continue sharing my art with the world. My goal is to create an outdoor museum that will inspire and uplift people for generations to come. I believe that art has the power to heal, connect, and transform. Through my work, I hope to create a world where beauty and positivity are accessible to all.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The greatest reward of being an artist is the freedom and peace of mind that comes with creating something unique and personal. The joy of seeing others connect with and appreciate my art is immensely fulfilling.
While I would love to be a full-time artist and “quit my day job” I have chosen to focus on the creative process and the love of art itself. The true satisfaction comes from the artistic journey, the connection with the audience, and the creation of something lasting.
I believe that art has the power to transcend boundaries, connect people, and create a lasting impact on individuals and communities.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My overall goal is to spread positivity through my artwork. I hope to elevate people’s mood and counteract the negativity in society by offering a visual escape and a moment of joy.
Additionally, I want to inspire conversation by sparking a dialogue and connection among community members. The world needs more face-to-face interactions. I hope to foster optimism and encourage people to focus on the positive aspects of life and appreciate the simple things. In short, I want to help create a happier, more connected community.
