We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eric Kingsberry a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Eric, appreciate you joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
The legacy I hope to build and leave behind is one of humility, servitude, and change. I envisioned a life where a person and persons can create a foundation for those with little or nothing to have the desire to make a change in their life by believing that success can be attainable. How I would like to be remembered as a man who cared so much for other and was will to go the extra mile to see that their dreams can come to fruition.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Eric D. Kingsberry I was born and raised in Newark , NJ. I moved to Orangeburg, South Carolina where I attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business administration. Several years later I attended and graduated with Master of Science in Human Resource from Grand Canyon University. Currently, I work for the State of South Carolina and I’m a part-time author. During COVID I decided to write a book. Ever since I was a child having a vivid imagination was a blessing. I chose to put that creative side to use by writing my first book called “Ene-City.” Ene-City is story that focuses on the several young people who encounters numerous obstacles in life from childhood to adulthood. Through out their journey’s they will be mentored by those with similar experiences and the outcomes of these individuals will determine how successful their future will be.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
During COVID in which I was required to work from home. I’m an extraverted person and being confined to my residence was very difficult. I enjoy going to Starbucks and other local restaurants after work or before to communicate with others. However, during this medical event I decided to write and publish a book. This was a new experience and kind of scary, but after the book became publish and friends, neighbors, teachers, and co-workers purchased and read I was blown away by the support and compliments received.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My personality and character is the backdrop of my success in writing my first book and as an employee for the State of South Carolina.in the Department of Juvenile Justice. I pride myself on being honest and straightforward with people. I’ve learned from childhood growing up in Newark, NJ is “respect” will carry you a long way in life.
