We were lucky to catch up with Eric Jordan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Eric thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My name is Eric jordan Jr, Sandusky, Ohio native. Born and raised in the area, I grew up playing sports and being active. Football, basketball, baseball were my favorites as I played all 3 from a young age through highschool and beyond. I ended up playing football at the next level in college. I played At BGSU on a scholarship but career was ended early for a second Acl tear. Once I wasn’t released to play again I had to work in then weightroom as a strength and conditioning assistant. This sparked my passion for training as well as playing sports growing up.In 2016 I came back to my home town and decided to start a organization for student athletes and adults to stay fit and active. Calling it Nexxt level, I wanted to help people reach their next level of potential and confidence.
I ended up getting a opportunity semi professional football out of Lorain,Ohio then it helped me get a contract to play professionally football overseas. which I went to Switzerland and played for a year and got to see the other part of the world.
Fast forward now, we have a 24 hour access gym with a plethora of different equipment for all ages. We are a family owned, small business and have over 150 members who atttend classes regularly or drop in for workouts.
We also do work in the community, as we have partnered with the local hospital on anti drug rally’s and commercials. Summer workouts partnered with the city of Sandusky, and other community events with local organizations and non profits.
Eric, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Really our work ethic. Our gym and our clients are allowed to be themselves at our place. Everyone at our gym is there to get Better so I believe we really do have a judgment free place, unlike alot of other corporate gyms
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Having a successful business but knowing that it wasn’t going to be enough to support my family as well. I stepped into a law enforcement career back in 2019. I know work as a Deputy Sheriff and school resource officer in Sandusky County.
Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
Just the struggle of keeping the business open. At time we do struggle paying the bills wether if from having low prices for our clients snd community or due to inflation and everything getting so expensive. We make it each month but we definitely has some some rough patches where I had to come up with some funds to pay the bills.
