We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eric Hiller a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Eric, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I have been taking photos all my life and recently invested in a camera to further my interest in photography. The most essential skills are definitely knowing the settings on your camera I spent a lot of time messing around with my camera settings to see what I liked best and that helped me learn how to best use it in different situations.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got in to photography very early in my life I always loved taking photos with phones or what ever I could use. for one of my birthdays I received a basic Sony camera and started to learn how to use all the settings and the basics of how to take photos. After many years of using that camera I got a Pentax 35mm film camera this really got me to understand what settings to use in what light and how to manually focus an image the look the film gave the photos was amazing too ! Not much longer after that I got my a6400 and started shooting around the PNW at all the beautiful places here I love exploring the city and some of my favorite photos to take are long exposures of Seattle and Also as a life long Seattle Mariners fan going to games and taking photos of the players ! GOMS!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of photography is getting that shot you have been trying to get for days , weeks or months. when I finally get what I have pictured in my head I always get excited!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Just being consistent give the same time and energy to each person and be genuine to people !
