We recently connected with Eric Elfstrom and have shared our conversation below.
Eric , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Every day I try to take a risk with whatever I’m in the process of creating. My first and biggest risk would have to be the first time I shot at a stadium concert. It was at Fenway Park in Boston and I was with Illtown Sluggaz because they were opening for New Kids on the Block. I was very nervous because of the massive stage and looking out and seeing a sea of people. I had a talk with myself and said if this is what I want to do then I have to kill this opportunity and the rest will be a breeze. Long story short I did a great job and when the video came out it got me seen by a lot of people and probably gave me the most exposure I’ve ever gotten at that point of my life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started off with music. I always wanted to be a hip-hop artist and one day I got a camera to get behind-the-scenes shots for a music video I wanted to do. When I picked up a camera, Vinnie from Naughty By Nature saw something in me and started having me shoot targeted ads for the Naughty By Nature merchandise drops. Whenever im creating I always try to be different from the rest. There’s no reason to follow others because you will never stick out and be yourself. It’s okay to be inspired by people and artists but you always want to learn from them and then add your own flavor to your craft to make yourself unique. Elfstrom Media expertise in content creation for any business or artist.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Growing up wasn’t perfect so there were a lot of speed bumps. I have always been determined and focused on what I wanted to do and never got sidetracked. To me it didn’t really matter what was going on I always put my head down and tried to figure it out the best I could without having the resources available to me. Every time I complete a project I always think about what I did wrong so I can figure out how to fix it so I can be better the next time.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The best way to support artists or creators is to buy their products directly from them. Not only do you purchase their merchandise but you can also wear it around spreading their logo or company name. You can also support them by sharing their new projects on social media or sending them to friends and family.
