We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eric Daniel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Eric, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.

I couldn’t have asked for better parents than Roy & Rhonda Daniel. They both have been very supportive of me on my creative journey. My father has shown me first hand, what hard work and dedication to your craft can do for you as a person, in real time. My mother has shown me what perseverance and not laying down when things get tough can do for a persons character. I think they have done a wonderful job with giving me their best attributes to become who I am today. I have learned a lot from them and am grateful for their guidance.

Eric, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

The first thing I want readers to know, is that I am born and raised in Los Angeles where good food and great weather are coupled with bad traffic and a high cost of living. These circumstances have made me develop a unique view of the world around me. I think the inner city experiences I went through made me a stronger person and a better artist. I used to draw in class starting from elementary on to high school and would escape the pressures of school and adolescence with artwork, starting with drawing portraits in middle school, to designing letterman jackets in high school and then cutting hair in college. I decided that being creative and expressing myself was not only a past time but a necessity. Without my creative space I couldn’t tell you where I would be today. I started my business Lvl Headz Clothing out of that same necessity. Lvl Headz Clothing is a representation of the modern human maintaining balance in a turbulent world in order to elevate their mind, body and soul.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing the impact you have on peoples day. When a friend or stranger comes across something I have made, whether it be a video from Lvl Headz Films or a design with Lvl Headz Clothing I am deeply thankful for the positive feedback that I get. I love being myself and producing things that make me feel validated by my friends and peers.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?

I have read hundreds of books and short stories in the past 15 years that its hard to recall them all at the moment but I do remember a book named “The Emerald Tablet: Alchemy For Personal Transformation” that changed my life forever. It really made me realize that I should not fear anything in this lifetime and that my life is important enough to change the future. With knowledge of self, no man can be less than extraordinary.
