Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eric Boyd. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Eric thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
All of my projects have a special place in my heart, however The Toasted Talk Podcast is quickly becoming my most meaningful. So just like most of the country I enjoy listening to podcasts but i quickly noticed that there was not a single one dedicated to the service and hospitality industry. Servers, waiters/waitresses, bartenders, etc. The general public has no clue how demanding and stressful it can be to perform at a high level and meet their demands whilst being, in some instances, belittled and not compensated properly ( tipped) for their efforts. That’s why in February of 2022 I started The Toasted Talk Podcast. The Toasted Talk Podcast is a safe haven for all members of the service and hospitality community to come talk about all the BS that we endure behind the scenes. Myself and my brother, Tony O’Neal, have worked incredibly hard to put this podcast together and we are proud of what we have accomplished.

Eric, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who do not know me allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Eric Boyd. Owner and operator of The Boyd’s Bar (Mobile Bartending Service), Teach Me How To Cocktail (Full Service Cocktail Course) and co-host of The Toasted Talk Podcast. I have been bartending for over a decade at some of your favorite watering holes as well as some of the best cocktail bars in Houston. In 2019 I decided to start my mobile bartending business and cocktail course. This was a passion of mine that I wanted to bring to the masses.
The Boyd’s Bar makes all occasions special by providing a skilled and knowledgeable bartender to cater any birthday, wedding, anniversary or corporate event. Teach Me How To Cocktail is similar to a painting or cooking class except with you know, booze! You and up to 9 of your friends and family will go through a 60-90 min course teaching the average home entertainer to become a skilled drink aficionado. Our newest concept to the brand is The Toasted Talk Podcast! Toasted Talk was started by my brother Tony O’Neal and I to give all service industry personnel a familiar platform to listen and interact with. We stream live on Facebook every Tuesday night on The Boyd’s Bar Facebook profile at 7:30 pm CST then the podcast is uploaded to YouTube and all major podcast platforms every Friday.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding thing about doing what I do is to see anyone that I teach become just as excited and interested about cocktails as I am. I’m a cocktail nerd so if I can bring others with me I’m all for it.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
The biggest thing that creatives need from non-creatives is to SHARE OUR CONTENT lol. Hit the share button please. It helps so much! LOL
