We were lucky to catch up with Eric “Big Vegg🥕” Sullivan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Eric “Big Vegg🥕” , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we talk about all of your success, let’s start with a story of failure. Can you open up about a time when you’ve failed?
When I started photography & videography in the year 2015, I started to self-teach myself how to shoot. Around 2017 two years later I got into a certain situation that challenged me before this, I had no proper professional knowledge of using a camera. So one night I was coming home from a gig in the heart of New York City, Manhattan to be exact when I stopped by a 7-Eleven. I went inside and got some snacks but I put my camera bag down when I got the snacks. I went to pay for them at the register upfront but didn’t notice that I left my camera bag in the corner of the store. I exited the store without my bag, not knowing I left it. Up the block was the Port Authority Bus Terminal where I was planning to take a bus back home to Rockland County, New York. I go purchase a ticket and maybe 20 to 25 minutes have passed already. Once I purchased a ticket I looked around trying to grab everything realizing that my camera bag was missing. Thats when I just realized I left my camera bag at the 7-Eleven. So I ran back to the 7-Eleven. Once I got there it was gone. So I went home, and took the loss, but was lucky because a former gig didn’t pay me yet so once I got the paycheck from the gig, I put it in my bank account and started to look online for sales. This happened around Black Friday, so there were a lot of bundle sales online. While placing the order, I also put my order in “rush delivery” because I had some extra dollars to get the new camera back to me quickly. Sadly, that didn’t make the process quicker because the package got backed up and I did not get it “Rush delivered”. It took a little longer, so I called the company two to three times with the third time explaining to the Manager my current situation with me losing my camera. After the manager heard my story, he told me “that I should have the camera bundle in a day or two and that He’s looking at the package now”. A day or two later the package came and I was back in business, camera accessories, etc. The next day I got another package thinking it was for my mother, but I saw my name on the package. So I brought it inside and I opened it and it was the same package sent to me twice so I had twice the accessories, twice to Cameras twice everything. Good Karma! I just got blessed in disguise through my bad time. Also, during this time when I couldn’t work, I did a lot of research online about what a camera operator is. Aquiring the Knowledge to become better at my shoots. This whole situation made me a better camera operator cause I started to truly learn the steps and everything it took to become a professional one. Also, after the situation, I got a bunch of two Angle jobs so this all happened when I was supposed to. God’s timing,
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What i think helped build my reputation within my market is simply staying consistant, loving what i do and knowing im respected for what i do.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
having to lose it all to gain more. Losing my camera to not only get two back but the knowledge added to use them in a professional way.
