We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Eric Becerra. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Eric below.
Hi Eric , thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I have always liked the art in all its forms of expression. I remember that since I was in preschool the teachers asked what I wanted to do when I grew up and I said, I want to be an actor, without even knowing what that was. All the other kids said they wanted to be truck drivers, doctors, or some other profession and they looked at me like, what is that being an actor? Since I was little I knew that I wanted to be in this artistic medium. When I was growing up, I signed up for all the plays at my school and I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I was from a town in Cuba where the acting career doesn’t transcend, it only stays in schools, so I focused on other things like photography. Then when I arrived in this country, I studied several careers, one of them was audiovisual production, which is to be behind the cameras, I always pursue art. Until one day when, due to things in life, I started doing theater in a local company in Tampa, Florida, where I lived at the time. Then I continue working on different acting projects and studying acting at different academies.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am an actor, I work in film, television, and theater. I started behind the cameras, working in production, which is a job that I also love, although now I am highly focused on my acting career, maybe in the future, I will return to the production part as recording, editing, or even directing. Until now what I have done the most is theater, I have acted in front of only three people and on other occasions in front of 200 people, and always with the same passion and energy that the public deserves. I get excited when I have to study a new character, discover and search for his background, his life story, what he feels, his motivations, and everything that goes into the character’s psychological profile. This is the fantastic thing about acting, today I can be a surgeon entering an operating room and tomorrow a psychopath and interpret them with truth and depth so that it reaches the public in the best way.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
This acting career is a roller coaster of emotions, sometimes I have a lot of projects, and other times nothing. A few years ago I was doing a lot of theater in Tampa where I lived, but I decided to move to Miami in search of new opportunities. It was a tough decision because I had to leave behind my stable job, friends, and family, all to continue reaching new goals. In Miami, it is very difficult to live only from art because it is a very expensive city. I have to work several jobs to survive in this beautiful city. I know that with effort, dedication, perseverance, and studying and working hard I can achieve all my acting goals.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFTs are the future and the future is here. I find it very interesting that someone can create something intangible and sell it at the price they want. I think there will always be people for each work, there are many people in this world and NFTs are becoming more and more popular. People buy it because they see it as an investment, the value that a work has today, maybe tomorrow will double. I always see NFTs as great works of art, like Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. There is only one and it is in a specific art gallery. If you want it, you can only buy the original if it was for sale. It is a super interesting and modern concept, it is a unique asset, which in theory should give it a higher value since there is no other like it.
